I actually like this thread. Their rating should be a good indicator at how bad their record will be

What were they ranked preseason in 2004, 2010,2013 ? Idiots who try to say the expectations are the reason for success or failure are the same as those betting services that use trends from 30 years ago to advice their clients. Some fools will try to run with it, but the bottom line is talent.

history also has zero effect on the future. Just ask LSU about their winning streak over Miss State in BR

You pulled two examples from 120+ years of football. The fact of the matter is, every time expectations are high the barn chokes.

When expectations are high for Alabama, we generally do well.

I'm hoping we are 6th in the West at least. I sure am sorry Auburn has been weighing so heavily on your mind lately. Hopefully Ole Miss getting hammered by the NCAA will give you a little reprieve.

Again, these kids are at a school for maybe 4 years and each have personalities different from players 4 years earlier. If it was the same Coaching staff for those years, you might have a point, otherwise you all sound like those yankees who want you to call their 800 number to get a guaranteed pick.

Considering Pat Dye's team finished in the top 10 in 5 out of his 12 years and finished in the top 15 in 7 out of his 12 years, the data in the op is very selective. I am sure Auburn was ranked highly to begin at least some of those seasons
