Aubies, who will be the H-Back/TE/FB this year?

Guys like Lutz (RIP), Prosch, Uzomah, Fulse. These guys added so much versatility to Gus' offense. Being able to lead block, and being a legit pass catching threat gave yall so many options formation wise.
Who are yall looking at to fill those roles in for the O?

Pettway and Chandler Cox look to split time there. Reports are both are pretty physical and have good hands. Cox had a great catch in the A-Day game.

Two frosh? I don't know them from Adam, any insight on what yall expect for those two?

Both are supposed to be very talented. Pettway got very good reviews out of camp.

Pettway is a RFr..had a year in learning the system at his position...and getting in SEC playing shape. He is a monster...he will get some carries and has very soft hands.
Chandler Cox is a true Freshman...was the QB on the team with Martez Ivey. Early enrollee so he has Spring and Fall camp under his belt. Has learned the playbook quickly and has very good hands. Reliable, strong for a true freshman and can definitely sneak out of the backfield and make a play. He may supplant Pettway next year...but all in all, they have similar skill sets with Pettway being a bit more physical, and having one more year in the system. You'll see them both...but more of BamBam (Pettway).

Also, Fulse doesn't belong in the same sentence with the other guys you mentioned.

Definitely fair. Just a guy that was mentioned by another Bama fan that I figured I'd include. Will Gus have to tweak the O at all for these guys or is it just plug and play?

It will be tweaked anyway. Wont be the same as it was when Marshall was here

quote:Should be plug and play. Their assignments in a wing-T offense are pretty straightforward. You're either sealing a hole, edge, or running a wheel route

Cameron Pettway and Chandler Cox. Both are hosses and perfect bodies for that role. both have great hands as well.

Yeah, Fulse pretty much sucked. Whiffed on so many key blocks.

Pettway was a 3* RB that came in & redshirted. Moved to H-Back during bowl practice and rumors are has been a violent blocker. Very athletic guy who might sneak in a few carries
Cox was #2 FB recruit last year. Showed some good hands at A-Day and a physical, strong guy.
They are both young so they won't be perfect but are more built for this position than Fulse was last season. I think you will see more 2010 sets when we used Eric Smith & Mario Fannin as blockers on 3rd down & on speed sweeps. Should also see more wheel routes this year as both are athletic.
We really missed having a guy that could get outside and chip DEs or get to LBs last season. This year we have 2 guys that can do that

Is Shon Coleman the same left tackle that Myles Garrett dominated last year? Or is it someone else?

My favorite aspect of the Gus O is the power run play action passes to the H-Backs. Seems from the responses so far that a drop off in talent or production isn't expected. Not what I like to hear as a Bama fan.
