Former Auburn softball player Alexa Nemeth speaks out after alleging abuse by coaching staff

Former Auburn softball player Alexa Nemeth said she felt threatened when the team was "quarantined" for three hours on March 30 and senior women's administrator Meredith Jenkins told players they were risking arrest if they did not delete text messages showing an inappropriate relationship between a player and then-associate head coach Corey Myers.

That's awful.

Seems there's always a scandal going on at Auburn.

She told them it was criminal to steal texts from someones phone. The inappropriate relationship was a separate issue.

So they broke the law and were being advised to cover it up. Kinda like "hide the body"?

It would be interesting to get an Alabama lawyer to help with the legalities. Nbamaalum and WDE havent been around. I think Teague is one.

I wonder when it becomes illegal to steal the text.

Under almost any legal precedent it "isn't" illegal to have a photo of someone else's text messages. Assuming they didn't take her phone and passcode from a cabinet in her bedroom, what they did isn't illegal. It's insane the AAD made that assertion.

The player in the interview comes off poorly IMO. No other player on the team has contacted her? If it was as bad as she suggests I would assume someone would have shot her a "thinking about you text". She suggests serious issues, but offers n evidence. I have no doubt Corey was a dirt bag, but I believe a less skilled lawyer is working for this women. She should have been better prepared for that interview and spoken more directly to allegations.

I would think it would have to be open and in plain view, otherwise it would be a no go. Sliding to unlock and accessing the app, I would think would be illegal

This a tough situation for her. She grew up in Auburn, graduated from Auburn High, and has probably cheered for Auburn her whole life. Playing for Auburn was probably her dream.

She's filed a Title IX complaint, not a lawsuit. She's already done everything she needed to do. That interview was just putting pressure on Auburn's Administration to do afterwards what they failed to do prior to her filing the complaint.

I'm pretty confident she will be vindicated. I hope she gets to play for Auburn again, if that is her wish. I can't imagine wanting to, if I was in her shoes.

Anyone, anywhere, who locked me in a room for the purpose of "quarantining" me for three hours would lose my regard and loyalty just like that.
