I could see Stoops leaving OK, he has been there too long, going to a new program could get him out of the slump. Competition is not going to be a factor, these guys have huge egos anyway. I would like to see Stoops at Auburn, could you imagine the talent Saban and Stoops would bring in? The games would be epic.

Why would anyone want Jimbo? Can't even win the ACC.

I've seen that Stoops wanted the AU job before Tubs got it

don't know if he 'wanted' the job, but he was a serious candidate when he was Florida's DC... no one knew what he'd develop into, but his bill snyder and spurrier background made him a top choice.

now, it's not even remotely possible.

this

Also, Stoops was set to come to UF after Urban's heart condition retirement (was the supposed reason Urban recanted). It seems Bob's wife hates Norman with a passion and wants to get back to the south.

So that may not be such a streach.

Paul Rhodes, Hugh Freeze, Petrino, Gus Malzahn, Terry Bowden.

Paul Rhodes - Not happening. He's an Iowa guy and he likes it out there. He may very well retire at ISU.

Hugh Freeze - Not happening. AU doens't want and he likely doesn't want to take that job. He's an Ole Miss guy and he's building a respectably program there.

Gus Malzahn - Don't know about this one. He wanted out bad last year, but that may be b/c he was tired of Chiz, Trooper, and Luper (only know for sure that he was tired of Chiz, but have been told he didn't like Troop). If AU called, he'd certainly entertain it.

Terry Bowden -

Some so-called Auburn insider stated that the next coach will be highest paid coach in college football, i.e 6 million dollar contract.

Why would Fisher leave FSU? I'd say that is a better job than Auburn, and that is nothing against Auburn.

Until miles and Sabans contract gets a bump because of their clauses. I doubt auburn shells out 6 million, unless it's an absolute home run hire.

I don't see that happening, particularly given the coaches they are looking at/talking to. If they paid one of those guys $6m they'd be laughed at....and Stoops isn't going to AU. Not even a conversation. I could see Patterson emerging eventually. He wanted it last time but - inexplicably - "bombed the interview" (that's what Jacobs was telling people as the reason he didn't offer him any way).

Stoops ain't leaving Norman. Since he's been hired no coach has been to the BCS Title game as much as him. The Sooners will match or beat anything the War Eagles offer.
