Haven't been up there in a while but I believe they no longer serve food from the Branded Butcher next door (which was pretty great as far as bar food goes)

Georgia Theater rooftop bar is cool. Never ate there though

Definitely cool, except on gamedays. It's a madhouse. It's ridiculous.

Tailgated mostly at north campus and the lettermen's club in the cemetery (friend's dad played) and I was there '11-'13 seasons. Schedule was garbage, save three games in three years I was there. One being the LSU game, which was awesome. Still mad at OBJ for fumbling and giving that game away. Don't get me wrong, loved Athens and UGA. Tailgating and football just doesn't come close.

You are an LSU fan who thinks tailgating at LSU is better than at UGA. That's natural and normal.

But the cemetary tailgate is slightly blue blood. If you ever took the time to hang out around any of the other numerous lots, you'd have a better opinion.

Ultimately, the fact you were in college between 2011 and 2013, means you are young and ultimately don't know what the frick you are talking about.

True, there was an ugly stretch tailgating wise between 08-10 due to north campus restrictions I think.

Otherwise if you found the game day atmosphere in Athens lacking it really says more about your social ability.

Well he just admitted to studying in the law library every Saturday afternoon, so….

You went to the law school tailgates I'm assuming. I've been to a few of those because of friends. That isn't real tailgating. Never been to the cemetery but it's an older crowd. UGAs campus is huge and there are great tailgates all over it. Leave the roost.

Never seen such an assuming bunch. I went to tailgates all over campus and did it all. Meyers quad, Milledge, etc. Most certainly did not tailgate with the law school bunch, as they were a very lame group overall and that's like hanging out with work friends on the weekend. The chick-fil-a nugget trays (as good as most UGA tailgating food got, and don't even start with the pulled pork nonsense), noon kick-offs and the unenthusiastic home crowds just weren't impressive to me. Granted it was still SEC football and fun. And post game Athens > post game Baton Rouge, but y'all could take a lesson in tailgating from some of the other SEC schools. But I understand you Dawgs being biased and self-conscious about your football, I heard this same rhetoric plenty while I was there.

ETA: There were maybe three night games there during my three seasons, and those were a lot better. But the TV picking time slots is just an excuse for an administration and fanbase (geezer ATL crowd) that prefers those early games. As such, the tailgating just isn't where it would be if the culture favored later games and fans didn't have to roll out of bed 5 hours after leaving Boar's Head, Silver Dollar, Nowhere, Bar South or Magnolias (See how cool and social I am? ) to get in even a couple hours of "tailgating."

And also right on cue, UGA fans resort to ad hominem attacks.

The LSU tailgate is top 2 or 3 in the nation so you could use this argument against any other school in the country. The "Hope Scholarship " has benefited our overall academic standing but has given us a less than enthusiastic student body . The overall gameday atmosphere at LSU isn't what it was either , say 10-15 yrs ago.

If you were going to tailgates where the Chic fil a platter was the top food, you weren't doing it right. As someone mentioned, tailgates at UGA are spread out not just around the whole campus, from the North lawn to the commuter lots by the intramural fields, but also throughout the local neighborhoods surrounding campus. While there are certainly some concentrated areas like Meyers quad, the Tate parking lot, the cemetery, and the parking decks, and North lawn, there is not one spot like The Grove, and people just don't make as big of a deal about having fancy tents, even though plenty have incredible food and liquor selection. And yes, LSU is different with its insistence on night games whenever possible and local fare to eat. However, as a hater of seafood, I am ok with what's on offer in Athens.

If that's the case, y'all shouldn't do such a good job at concealing the good tailgates.

Athens is a great town and gamedays are fun. Just not my first choice (or second, third and maybe even fourth choice) as far as gameday atmospheres in conference. That being said I would take Athens nightlife above all. Fantastic. I very much enjoyed my time there.
