Do people really line up to ring this after Georgia wins? Any issues ever occur with opposing fans ringing this after they win?

These days it's for kids.

And no, there's no issues with opposing fans trying to ring it.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

Yeah, first gameday in Athens...any traditional or new must eats? Similar to Ye Olde in Knoxville or Dreamland in Tuscaloosa?

From looking around the web, is it Last Resort on Clayton for dinner and Mama's Boy for Brunch?

Are these outdated? Any newer / better options?

Last Resort is probably my favorite restaurant downtown. It's gonna be quite the wait on a game weekend. But if you can, go there and for dessert, get the white chocolate cheesecake.

Mama's Boy is overrated to me but that's a pretty unpopular opinion. You'll have a wait here as well.

My favorite is Cali N Titos. It's a Cuban restaurant that is by far the best food for your money in Athens. Bring cash though, no card machines.

But if you're downtown I recommend The Globe, Craature Comforts Brewery, Clocked (burgers), Trappeze Pub, Transmetropolitan (pizza), and then there's about 40 bars you can check out. Idk how old you are so based on that I can tell you which ones you'd like the most

The Place is new but I love it. Southern food and great location across from North Campus and the arch.

Little Italy has good, cheap pizza. Ditto for Taco Stand and mexican food.

Amici has good wings.

The Globe and Trappeze are also really great bar/food combos.

The bar scene is the stuff of legends but the best way to tackle it is to just hop around until you find one you like. All in all, it's like Disney world: you can't really hit all of the parks in one day so just find one that you enjoy and stick with it.

Beyond Downtown, Cali N' Titos is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. Mamas Boy is really good but not necessarily worth the standard 30+ minute wait.

Skip Momma's Boy.

Last Resort is great for brunch. So is The National.

Anywhere decent is going to have a wait on a game weekend.

I am not sure The National still does Sunday brunch, unless they started to again. It is a fantastic spot for lunch and/or dinner though.

Other great places for brunch are Heirloom, Big City Bread, and 5 and 10.

If you are looking for less formal dining, I enjoy the Royal Peasant- love their lamb burger, Very good beer selection as well. Can get crowded as it is small. If you like to watch the Premier League on the weekend, this is your place.

Plenty of non-kids ring the bell as well. It doesn't seem as though fans of other teams try to ring it, maybe because while it certainly isn't hidden, you sort of have to know where it is.

And I want to strangle every motherfricker I see letting their kids ring before and during the game.

I took my son to his first game when he was 6. He saw the other kids ringing and asked about it. I told him he had to stay the whole game, and we had to win before he could ring it. He didn't make it through a full game that season or the next. Every time we walked past the bell, he would look, and I knew he wanted to ring it, but he said nothing. Finally, when he was 8, he stayed the whole game, we won, and he got to ring the bell. Now, every time he passes and sees the other kids ringing it when its not appropriate, he stands up a little straighter, and says, "That's not right, Dad. Ill ring it after we win."

As someone who spent Saturdays studying in the law library annex next to that damn bell, I can most definitely confirm that thing rings to no end after a win. I was, and still am, generally unimpressed with UGA football and tailgating (noon games damn near every time - wtf?), especially in comparison to LSU, so I studied through the rent-a-win games 1L year. But I do love Athens.

I wouldn't say it's especially for kids. I lived across from it for two years and there are people ringing that thing in the middle of the night constantly. Like it doesn't stop till 4 in the morning on gamedays. God I hate that thing.

Football teams don't get to pick what time the games are. The TV decides. UGA doesn't like noon games. Can't hold that against us.

Also, I don't know where he tailgates at but it isn't exactly light.

He might have been at UGA during that period of time that tailgating was banned on North Campus.

True, there was an ugly stretch tailgating wise between 08-10 due to north campus restrictions I think.

Otherwise if you found the game day atmosphere in Athens lacking it really says more about your social ability.

To echo gatorhata, need to know if you are young and ready to party or if you are coming with family, etc.... recommendations are different depending on who you are and what you are looking for.

I wouldn't call it "nice" per se. It's a pizza and wing joint that also serves some pasta dishes.

Oreder a round of honey hots, though. They're solid.
