Heading to the game this weekend in Athens. First time in 10 years or so since I have been. What are some good places to eat/drink/watch some other games while in town?

Looking forward to the weekend and the game! Go Dogs

Downtown restaurants: Last Resort, Five Bar, Trapeze, Ted's Most Best (pizza), Clocked (burgers), The National, and many more. Mama's Boy and Mayflower are the best breakfast/brunch spots in my opinion.

Bars: Too many to name. My favorites are Allgood, Magnolias, Boar's Head and the Georgia Theatre rooftop. I'd recommend walking around a picking a place that looks good to you.

For watching the game any bar should be good. The Georgia Theatre is free to enter for anyone over 21 on gamedays and they play the game on a massive projector.

Enjoy your time in Athens! Hopefully our alcohol and women will serve as somewhat of a pick me up after we kick your team's arse Saturday night

Creature Comforts is a fun place to hang out. Mama's Boy, IMO, is the best breakfast place in town. South Kitchen, DePalmas, Taste of India, Grindhouse and Taqueria del Sol are some of my favorites.

Just a disclosure: almost all of the food places mentioned in second post do not have TVs. The bar recs are solid (food too, just no TVs)

I would go somewhere like blind pig tavern on Washington to eat, drink and watch plenty of TVs.

Just a heads up open containers are illegal in the city of Athens. They are legal on campus during game days but if you step one foot off campus you can be given a citation.

Bars? Anywhere you can throw a rock and you'll find a spot to watch the game. What sort of atmosphere do you want?

Our group is in our early thirties and late 20's.

Just looking for a place that has good draft beer selection, and good food with a lot of TVs to watch other games.

Mellow Mushroom and Blind Pig both fit your description. But I would also check out some of the bars mentioned in post #2. Athens has tons of great bars.

I feel like a trip to Grindhouse Burgers is sorta a requirement for State fans.

tGrind is on.

Mellow Mushroom is nothing special. There are better places. I think 3 of us are going. Won't know until tomorrow.

Wherever place you maybe. It wont be too special, when uga beats the msu poodles. You better sip your pinapple daquari as much as you can with your legs crossed.
