Funny true story behind that. Involves Ole Miss, actually.

So Ole Miss caused Wallace to stand in the doorway of UA to stop black students from enrolling? Hell, we are more powerful than the REC and we don't even know it.

Some of the allegations regarding the football program date back to previous coach Houston Nutt, but others involve current coach Hugh Freeze's tenure, a person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press on Friday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

Well... Yeah, actually. You recall the Ole Miss riots of 1962, involving the enrollment of James Meredith. Well, when the Supreme Court ordered UA to allow the admission of Vivien Malone and James Hood, there was a great deal of planning involved to ensure those riots didn't take place in Tuscaloosa. Part of that was the Governor being asked by John F. Kennedy to make an appearance in order to soothe the would-be angry masses. As you'll recall, there were several deaths and hundreds of wounded, including dozens of US Marshalls during the Ole Miss Riots. There was never any intention of preventing those students from attending. It was a big show orchestrated to keep Tuscaloosa from becoming Oxford East. It worked.

Here's the article that talks about the second investigation that got started around the Tunsil investigation, which has yet to close.

OM fans, read if you dare

This second investigation only centers around football, and the NOA associated with it isn't expected for some time. But just for the record, there is now 100% official word out there about an entire SECOND investigation. Even if they don't get hammered the first time, there's still #2 incoming.

Whatever makes you sleep at night. He stood in the entrance to block the black students from entering. Don't really care about the coordination. Tell me that the Alabama citizens at the time didn't support that.

Also a great book for you to read other than "To Kill a Mockingbird". The book is "Brother to a Dragonfly."

Of course they did. That's why 300+ people didn't end up injured and several more dead. Because the leadership at UA, and the state government learned from violent riots at Ole Miss and decided to do whatever it took to make sure it didn't happen in Tuscaloosa. Had there not been riots at Ole Miss, there would have been no Governor Wallace standing in front of the school house door.

So Wallace would have willingly desegregated the Capstone if not for OM?

BTW, I was at OM then as a kid. Cars from all over the south were in abundance. Way more than Ms tags. Alabama and Georgiia were the most prominent. This was. During the so called riot that really wasn't.
