Yeah, he was a booster. Boosters donate money. He gave more money to an assistant coach than he did all the players.
Also the reason I posted this originally is to show the NCAA really didn't have a lot on Miami, and Miami self imposed a lot of sanctions including firing coaches with any involvement, and STILL got 9 scholarships over 3 yrs and probation. So if the NCAA is trying at all to nail Ole Miss like they were Miami This should easily be a 2yr bowl ban, 30scholarship reduction over 3 yrs, probation, recruiting restrictions, and show-causes....but I don't think it will be.

Miami was on probation from 1996-1999. The violations involving Shapiro started in 2002. One major violation within 5 years of 1999 is all that the NCAA needed on Miami to give them the death penalty. Fortunately, the NCAA stepped on their dicks.
