Dude was a combination of brilliance and freshman mistakes last night. When he gets rid of the freshman mistakes...

That's not saying much, and Chad Kelly hasn't taken the field yet.

ETA: He reminds me of Tajh Boyd in some ways.

Every time I switched over to the Bama game he was making a big play. You boys are going to be tough to beat yet again.

Lets hold off here, one decent game with good and bad doesn't make him the best in the SEC just yet.

I will admit, I am excited about his potential, and knwoign he's just a true-freshman, makes me all warm inside...

I don't think he ever even celebrates. Maybe Saban and Lane created him in a lab. Dude is cool as a cucumber.

Better hope he doesn't celebrate after a big play in the LSU game. He could have an unintentional career ending injury.

But Miles will have to review the film before he can say anything about it.

Hurts isn't that great. Just like Simms wasn't truly great.....

But Joey Freshwater is a sexy son of a bitch that can coach a college offense and put his players in positions to succeed

You're an Lsu fan, your opinion of QB's doesn't matter.

You would expect an 18 year old playing his first game in the best Stadium in all of the land to celebrate or be nervous. He did neither. The fumble when he first came out there was a simple miscommunication(Hurts's fault for changing his mind a little too late on keeping it). I noticed when he scored his first td, he gave a blocker a high five and ran right back to the coaches for further instruction. Even in the spring game, when he was 17, he ran out onto the field and was calm while the more experienced qb's all looked like deer in headlights. I knew at some point sooner or later the freshman would play. It was sooner.

Don't be so sensitive Bama. I have huge props to your coaching staff. My point is Kiffin has made Simms and Crater face look like damn good qbs. The guy is a fantastic coach and Saban is a fantastic coach for hiring him

Classy post. Yes, Kiffin is a good coach, and works wonders with QBs. But if you can't see that Hurts has major talent, then I really can't help you.

Sims and Coker were both like 22 when they played under Lane. Hurts is 18. He's gonna be filthy once he gets more of the playbook down.

If it's one thing that L5U fans know, it is great quarterback play.

So you DO agree in that Kiffin can coach up AND create plays for his playmakers. Isn't that what an OC is suppose to do? Yes!
LSU needs to hire a new OC because your current one couldn't coach a pop-warner team to the cooler filled with juice boxes.

Hurts is a better QB now than Sims ever will be.

Let's pump the brakes, now. Sims was a very serviceable QB. Hurts has far more potential, but until I see him demonstrate the ability to consistently move the chains on third down, it will remain potential.
