Mike Shula coordinating an unstoppable offense and Roman Harper as the grizzled field general leader of tough defense.

I think it's fair to say that the Shula era at Bama may not have won any SEC or National titles, but it's now produced a Super Bowl appearance and likely a title.

Not only is Kurt Coleman the best safety on the team (by far), but Roman Harper ranked 56th (per PFF) in safety rankings during the 2015-2016 season. He's a liability at best.

I thought it was funny that two of Bama's biggest scapegoats where big players in one of the biggest games of the year. Both were hung in effigy due to failures of their superiors or drunks. Now the bammers are embracing them.

Shula and Harper? Roman Harper was one of the best players of the Shula era. Nothing but love for him.

The same thing for Shula. He just wasn't the man for the job. He was too conservative and played not to lose instead of going for the win. I can't fault him personally though. He was young and still learning how to be a coach. The man brought stability back to the program. I will always thank him for that.
