We recruit Texas, both for athletes and regular students. That's the only explanation. This is targeted at the 7 million people living 5 hours SW of Fayetteville.

So the SECN is big in Texas?

If they want to go, I say let them. They can take Mizzou and A&M with them for all I care.

Would all be in favor of trading those 3 for West Virginia?

SEC would look like:
West:
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss State
Alabama
Auburn
Vanderbilt

East
Tennessee
Kentucky
West Virginia
South Carolina
Georgia
Florida

Big 12 would be:
North:
Mizzou
Iowa St
Kansas
K-St
Oklahoma
OK St

South:
Texas
Texas A&M
Baylor
TCU
Texas Tech
Arkansas

Looks good to me

How long does Arkansas have to be in your conference before you understand who they are.
30 years? 40 years? 50 years?

The state of Texas and more so University of Texas made Arkansas who it is as a program. That is why when they left the SWC Arkansas was kinda of a lost program. The rivarly with LSU began to change this but what happens LSU replaces Arkansas for another Texas university but one that Arkansas has really no respect for. Anyone who has been connected with A&M for an extended period of time can explain why.

Back to the point that Texas Bowl victory was huge for Arkansas. First and foremost because the previous meeting Arkansas took a beating like no other in Austin. Secondly Arkansas during that season with the Texas bowl had just snapped a long SEC losing streak. Third and finally Arkansas never had dominated Texas like that. Texas had dominated Arkansas but very few times did the opposite occur. It made the entire move to the SEC and away from Arkansas' history worth it.

solid post.

Arkansas in the 60's/70's was near OU level as a rival for Texas and A&M a very distant 3rd.

OU fans have a strong dislike for Texas.. A&M fans the standard reaction of the abused, but Arkansas fans had an intense hatred towards everything Orange that was scary.

The Texas Bowl must have been incredible therapy for many old time Hog fans. I think the Matt Jones led team that whipped Texas in Austin might have provided even more payback for the older Razorbacks.. Texas was actually good then and it was in Austin.

Texas fans actually enjoy the banter with the OU legions, have zero respect for the A&M crowd, but were uneasy anytime we had to travel to Fayettenam.. Hog fan wasn't playing games with their hate for Texas.

When the SEC finances takes a dive I imagine you'd change your tune.

By all means, lose Arkansas, Missouri, and A&M for the lucrative West Virginia market. You sir are a super genius.

Didn't the city of Dallas have to prohibit OU and Texas fans from loitering on Commerce Street, assaulting and shooting each other at one point in history? That happened after Arkansas left for the SEC, remember?

OU and Texas aren't some "gee willikers" friendly sports rivalry.

And just how your fans change the line in the fight song to "OU sucks", they used to say "Make em Eat shite" when they played Arkansas.

Yeah, there's an old hatred there. I'm too young to fully appreciate it, but don't act like it was totally unique or totally one-sided.

Though it was pretty weird that they showed a couple of Texas wins over aggy in the past 24 hours

If true.. dayum, aggy received more respect in the B12 (none) that it gets in the SEC (less the zero respect?).

Outside of the 2011 game (final matchup), why would they show Texas beating A&M?

We did enjoy disliking you. That is our big problem with the SEC, we don't really hate anyone here. Its just not the same without some good seething bloodlust.

the intent of my post towards OU reflects nothing you just projected.

TX-OU is intense.. great rivalry. Neither side compares to the level of hate Arkansas fans had towards Texas.

A city prohibiting the fans of two teams from interacting for several years because of shootings and assaults is just history. It's a fact.

You characterized the rivalry with OU as "banter" you "enjoy". I'm not projecting anything.

I don't care about media markets or revenue splitting. I care about football. I care about preserving traditional rivalries. Arkansas belongs with the Texas teams. A&M and UT belong together. 12 team conferences handle scheduling and other issues much better than 14 team conferences. I would like to see the Big 12 be good as well. Ideally, I'd like to see West Virginia in a revived Big East with its rival Pitt, Nebraska back in the Big 12, BYU and Utah back in a conference together, etc.

SEC
LSU, Tulane, Ole Miss, Miss St, Alabama, Auburn

Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech

*Get the band back together

Big 10
Michigan, Michigan St, Ohio St, Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame

Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa St

Big 12
Nebraska, Kansas, K-St, Mizzou, Air Force, Colorado

Texas, A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Arkansas, OK St

PAC 12
USC, UCLA, Zona, Arizona St, Utah, BYU

Oregon, Oregon St, Wazzou, Washington, Stanford, Cal

Big East
Penn St, Boston College, Syracuse, UConn, Rutgers, Temple

Pitt, West Virginia, Cincinatti, Army, Memphis, Louisville

ACC
Maryland, Navy, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Duke

Wake Forest, NC St, Florida St, Miami, Clemson, South Carolina

It is lopsided historically but as he said, he's a babe and anyone 30 or younger has only seen it be a pretty even series. In other words, it's not our fault you're no longer intimidating to anyone.

It's also why the SEC still exists, and every conference Texas joins eventually falls apart. The arrogance of Texas fans and administration has historically been worthy of hate.

That's probably why Arkansas fans are the last SEC fans to complain about "Bama arrogance". We have a basis for comparison, and Texas is just a whole different animal.

This guy gets it & lived it.

You could sit in the OU section of the Cotton Bowl and with the right approach actually enjoy urself.

Many Texas fans would not travel to away games vs Arkansas. That passion/rivalry is just one of the lost gems as this game of CFB goes by the way of the almighty dollar.

Listen hillbilly, your parents wedding probably had shootings and assaults.. shite happens when idiots drink all day.

OU/TX will never reach the level we are discussing despite any sample you may provide or dream up.. and that's a respectful comment towards the Arkansas program.

Can a senior Hog educate the fool please?

I'm sorry me pointing out history hurt your feelings.

Your hurt feelings are not an argument.

Texas and OU fans were banned from downtown Dallas for years, by barricades and hundreds of police, because of a shooting and because you were prone to assaulting each other in the early 1990s.

Don't minimize it.

It's a different era now, and college sports don't mean as much as they used to. When they did, OU/Texas was as hateful as rivalries come.

Nobody cares about Texas anymore. Other than Texas and Oklahoma, the Big 12 has been very weak, with a few flukes, in football the last few decades. I'm sure Tom Herman will make them very relevant very quickly though.

I hope this annual series with Mizzou picks up steam, but it has a long way to go.
