Bobby Petrino hired a chick because he was banging her. If that isn't grounds for termination what is?

If we were to make the right hire, the standards would not fall.

So who at this very moment would leave their current job to come to Arkansas and would be considered a good hire?

He'd be considered a good hire I guess. I don't agree that a coach with zero HC should be considered a good hire though.. But since we're talking about Arkansas maybe it's different.

Happens all the time in corporate America.

Let Taver Johnson, our associate head coach and current head coach while Petrino is on administrative leave, be our "head coach" this season with Paul Petrino and Paul Haynes running the offense and defense as they're already doing. Then after this season we could look at Haynes, Paul Petrino, Malzahn, and Garrick McGee as potential candidates (and I guess Taver Johnson too if he does a great job). Also maybe throw in some guys like Tubberville and Patterson on the list. I'm confident we could find a good coach out of that group.

Corporations are not publicly-funded institutions of higher learning. Petrino is an employee of the state of Arkansas. It's a bit different.

And such things never happen in state offices. . .

. . .all he has to prove is that she is qualified for the position he hired her for. . .problem solved.

None of those coaches will win you a championship. You'd be better off keeping Petrino and weathering the storm.

You either are in slight denial as to the true magnitude at hand, or either have a lack of respect for the Ark program as some form of desperado, and not the potent job that it is regardless of HC.

CBP while an excellent X&O HC, has long been seen in certain lights, and this story has serious legs..it will not be swept under the rug.

It is not that simple. Clearly you're not a lawyer, and neither am I, but I know that hiring practices based on sexual favoritism is often, but not always, prohibited. It is an extremely complex issue.

I think the odds for Arkansas retaining Petrino are about 50/50 right now. I'm already upset, and will not be anymore upset no matter what happens now. I voiced my opinion in the OP, but I'll be fine if he is retained or not.

And get yourself free "

They should force him to take sexual addiction counseling and say he has a problem that is beyond his control and he's working hard to correct his family life.

Sexual addiction counseling?

He got horny for a hot 25 year old and gave her a taxpayer funded job to keep her around even though she was scheduled to be married in June.

Why not put him on mandatory doses of saltpeter or even better yet, geld him.

I must say that I am astonished that so many hogs seem to be calling for Petrino to be let go. I don't know if you all are just resigning yourselves to the worst possible scenario so when it does not happen you will be pleasantly surprised or what?

In general, unless you are the VERY BEST at what you do (Petrino is very good, but definitely *not* the very best), then things like embarrassing your employer by lying to them, having them (without their knowledge) lie for you to the public, and hiring your little side-piece to a nice, cushy new job on your employers dime is nearly always fatal to your job prospects of working for an employer that is quite concerned about public reputation.

Hell, they may keep him... I don't know. But, if they do, they'd have had to make the calculation that the constant PR hits they'll get by keeping him will be less damaging than keeping a known scumbag like Petrino (and hawgies? he was a know scumbag when you hire him, by the way) on staff.

Idiotic statement up above... Jon Ham that is the classiest thing an Arky ranter has ever posted. Schools are bigger than coaches, integrity does mean something, and your program will be just fine if Bobby is shown the door

Agree, football is huge, but it should never be held above the integrity of the school.
