I thought we were dead in the water earlier this season to be honest, you have to tip your hat to Van Horn and his players for turning things around in the homestretch of the season.

That's great, but fortunately the hosts selected don't go in an exact RPI order. No selection at all goes in RPI order. Just ask LSU fans about 2011 and being left out completely with an RPI of 24. Or Arkansas hosting as a two seed 8 years ago. Fact is, the SEC is the #1 league, again in college baseball and will be rewarded as such. Just as it has in 2014(5 hosts) and 2013(4 hosts). Arkansas has a top 10 SOS. Couple that with finishing top 4 in the toughest league in the land, then yes, there is certainly a chance for Arkansas to host over UF of the Gators keep slipping, like they have.

Florida is more likely to be a national seed than they are to miss out on hosting. The problem folks have with your post is your rationale that Arkansas can host if only Florida would go into the tank. It doesn't work that way. Arkansas isn't competing against Florida to host, they are competing against the entire national field. You should be more focused on what OSU and Missouri State are doing as that, frankly, would have a lot more bearing on Arkansas's ability to host a regional.

Boyd's RPI needs report seems to indicate that the best Arkansas can do on that scale is just crack the top 32. Of course, the needs report doesn't take into account the tournament, so Arkansas has a chance to do a little better than that. Keep up the hot streak, and have one of those teams in your neck of the woods fall off, and Arkansas might could pull a miracle host bid. More likely, though, they are going to be the 2 seed that no one wants.

Most likely scenario. Doesn't bother me either, after our shite-tastic start I'm thrilled with that.

This has been the opposite of a normal Van Horn season. We usually start off hot and have a mid to late season lull. Now we're second half in fuego

Arkansas is seriously underrated this year. Like their football team, they're picking up momentum as the season goes on. Hogs finna eat.

The SEC WILL have 3 host sites. It MIGHT have 4. But I don't think Arky will be one of the 4. Too much ground to cover.

Again, I stated "chance" to host.

The only way Arkansas can host IMO, is if UF keeps losing.

If Florida keeps floundering and Arkansas ends up with 38-40 wins after the SEC Tourney, then there's a chance.

Well, I guess you are entitled to your opinion misguided though it may be. Florida could win out or lose out and that would probably still have almost the same effect on the Hogs hosting chances, other than there being one less team in the mix nationally.

Arkansas would jump a lot of other potential host schools before they got into the same discussion as Florida.

Don't they factor in anticipated attendance, too? Or have they stopped that? Arkansas mops the floor with most of the teams above them in their ability to host a large number of fans...

I used to think that they would, but lately I don't think that's the case. We played at Norman and at Berkeley which were both pathetic sites.

I think we dropped too many mid-week cupcake games early in the season to host. It's the very thing that has kept us from hosting in the past. DVH doesn't give a rat's arse about the midweek games and it shows. Unless we sweep a couple of our last few, I think we'll be a 2 seed against one of the weaker hosts.

Money mattered back when there were 8, six-team regionals. Since they went to 16 four-team regionals, they've pretty much awarded host sites on merit, as long as you meet the minimum requirements. The days when you could buy a regional are long gone.

True, but if all things are equal, I would think Bruam gets it over some little shite hole.

Arkansas has zero chance of hosting a regional. Your overall record is worse than Auburn.

Arkansas needs to win 6 of its remaining 7 games just to make the top 32 RPI according to Boyd's World. There is not chance of toping the Top 16. And unless someone Ark has already played and beaten moves up into the top 50, there are no more opportunities for quality wins remaining in the regular season.

Auburn might have a better chance of hosting than Arkansas. We have a better overall record, a top 20 rpi, and we will only be 2 games behind them in the sec standings with. a victory today
