Arkansas, is the 14 year streak coming to an end?

Just a few weeks ago Arkansas was cruising after beating Rice, UH, & TTU. Sure the RPI was high, but that's what happens when you play multiple weekend & 2 game mid week series vs teams to the 230s+. We all knew the RPI would take care of itself in the gauntlet that is SEC play. However you're sitting at 4-10 with the potential of being swept for the 3rd time this weekend.
So what do you expect? A comeback? Is this it? You made the postseason every year since 2002. Was this expected coming in to the year?

I can't speak for any other fans, but this is about the team I expected us to field. The unexpected was the early season ranking or the strength of the SEC. The SEC is always good but too to bottom is really nasty this year. We aren't good but we are bad in areas I thought we would be better in, not sure why most of our pitchers seem worse than last year and our battling is about as good maybe even a bit better than I thought.
Basically, I thought this would be a year where we would lose a lot of 4-2 type games...not a year we would lose a lot of 8-4 type games. Same end result though.

I thought we would be better than this since a DVH team is never this bad, but when you look at what we lost it makes sense. Our entire outfield including the golden spikes winner, our Friday night pitcher and our all-defensive team 3B. I can't explain how all of our good pitchers from last year started sucking though.
Hopefully we can get some of our top recruits in this next class to campus or we might not be that much better next year

I don't see this team turning it around. Last year's team was different, we had an ace and the best player in baseball. This team lacks that guy to stop the bleeding in both phases. I'm not upset about it, it was a good run and we will be back to competing for titles soon

Not throwing fuel on the fire or rubbing anything in here .... but Gamecock fans caught a lot of grief from a few Arkie fans during the preseason and headed into our SEC opening series about how highly ranked they were at the time, how our longest in the nation post season streak had ended last year while theirs continued ... etc.
We swept them in our series to get them off to a bad start in conference play and basically destroy their confidence.
1 - They jinxed themselves.
2 - They are a better team than they are showing right now - their problem is that they are lacking confidence.
Arkansas will have to really turn-it-on to make the playoffs this season ... but they have the talent to do so. At the same time, the league is a beast this year, as good as any other, top to bottom, that I can ever remember. So it is going to be tough for them to overcome what is in front of them unless they start with this final game against UF today. With what's remaining of Florida, then Kentucky, @LSU and @MSU still on the schedule ... I'd say they are pretty much done. Bama will take their series too given the state of mind Arkansas seems to be in at the moment.
They may not win another series.

Yep, the roosters broke their confidence so bad that they ended up sweeping the next weekend. Arkansas' bad play has nothing to do with the cocks

I mean if you believe random people on the internet have any control over their respective teams then I guess it might be their faults.
South Carolina took it to us and deserve some bragging rights but that first series didn't break us. You can make an argument that the Mizzou series did after we won the first game.

Yep. I'm not sure that its so much a confidence issue so much as we just don't have the players to compete at a high enough level this year. The SEC is particularly stout this year and our pitching really dropped off from last year.
Barring a Bert level miracle run we'll be staying home in the post season. Its a shame to see a great streak end but hopefully this will light a fire under our coaches to turn things around for next year.

The real issue is Dave Van Horn's low T. I saw him in a local restaurant the other day and he was drinking wine like a lady.

Ya, Benintendi covered a lot of holes

How does one drink wine like a lady? Or do you consider all people drinking wine, ladies?

I didn't get that one either, apparently, to be a man, one must pound beers or sip from the whiskey bottle

I don't follow Arky that closely but since we play them every year I'm a little familiar with their team and program. I watched some of game 3 vs OM and game 1 vs UF (BTW, Baum is a beautiful ballpark).
Seems like the bats are there but I've never seen Arky pitching and fielding this bad. DVH is a very good coach. Remember the Hogs were like 15-15 last year, found the right pieces, and ended up in Omaha.
What's going to make it really hard this year is they have a brutal schedule left.

Yes,we're not losing to pushovers that's for sure.We definitely have a lot of flaws, but instead of making excuses I'd prefer to give the other teams credit for taking advantage of their talent against us.
I don't see us making up enough ground to play post season with the schedule we have left.Great year for the conference though..

I think the lack of a single starting pitcher is what is both mysterious and painful. We still haven't found a single solid starting pitcher at this point in the season and that means it's going to be a long and rough year and yes, we probably will miss the tournament for the first time under DVH.
