This is true. I remember one year I did that very same thing and got home around 7 am and rembered my parents were coming over for turkey at noon. I put the turkey in the oven and then passed out and only woke up when the smoke was choking me out. The turkey came out "blackened" and they thought it was some special recipe I invented!
