Could have very possibly won the National Title that year.

1998 fumble vs UT. Both teams undefeated, UT wins the NC. You were likely 8 or 9.

What if ESPN used their show to talk about football instead of guessing what might have happened in a fantasy?

At the time it was only the biggest game of the year, with the most memorable play of the season (Stoernover). The winner was basically considered a lock for the NC game.

Were you under a rock?

you lost 3 other games that year. you were hardly a lock for the title (you would have had to beat tennessee again as well)

The season end collapse is widely considered to be the aftermath of the Stoernover and not rebounding.

Leading up to the game, and even after, it's commonly accepted that the winner of that game goes on to to the BCSNC.

I watched the game. Didn't remember that Arkansas was undefeated too. Arkansas had the game won until that freak turnover by Stoerner. Was that Houston Nutt's first season?

If I was an Arkansas fan, I'd probably have destroyed my tv set after that fumble.

I was at a huge bar in North Dallas watching the game. This bar hosts the K-State Alumni as well as Michigan Alumni, both of which were in full force. K-State and UM fans were all screaming for an Arkansas win as KSU was also undefeated. UM was a two loss team but had just watched their team run off it's 8th straight win. The 300+ in the room were going nuts and yours truly was buying shots by the tray, handing them out to strangers left and right.

Then, "it" happened. The room went into slow mo mode and as one of the only Hogs there, all eyes fell on me. Depression isn't the word...drunk doesn't describe the rest of the night. Jail for beating my then roommate for trying to take my keys was the final humiliation.

In three words . . . frick My Life - 11/14/1998
