Listened to the Football Four Podcast this morning. Apparently members of your fan base were upset that Arkansas was not included in the misery index.

There is a solid chance of 7-5 looking at the rest of the schedule and maybe even 6-6. I am assuming that Robb Smith is gone. What other changes will need to be made this offseason to keep Bret's seat at warm as opposed to scalding hot? Or is he encouraged to inquire about the Kansas State job?

I think as long as he gets rid of Smith, he'll fend off the wolves for now. It would be nice if he would get rid of our DL coach as well.

He's got a crazy high buyout though so he could always just sit back and enjoy the paycheck because he isn't getting fired for a bit.

Honestly, if we go 3-1 to finish, I think he'll fend off the wolves. If he's 2-2 with a bad loss or two, he's going to have to sacrifice someone to avoid being on the hot seat altar himself. As terrible as the Auburn loss was, Bielema's fate is still in his hands.

I thought Robb Smith was the best defensive coordinator in the league and Arkansas was so smart for having him sign a non-compete? Also, if he could have the 10th ranked defense with those players, imagine how he'd do with real talent. Now he's getting his arse fired?

Also, you aren't getting Charlie Strong as a replacement for Robb Smith.

Ya, Smith will need to go if we don't do a complete 180 on the defensive side of the ball in the next 5 weeks. Paul Rhodes could be a very good choice since he is already in the program. If he finishes with 7 or less wins, he will need to win at least 9 next year to get back off the hot seat imo. As already stated the buyout takes a little pressure off of him.

To be fair, there's not much Bret can do about a 4th string running back knocking his linebackers on their asses.

LSU fans used to think Les Miles was one of the top coaches in the league. Things change. It's not that complicated.

Best? No but he was thought to be a good one in the league by many fan bases back in 2014. No one was claiming that last year so don't really understand your point other than being upset about something that was said 2 years ago.

Yup, sadly it appears that Robb Smith is only good for shutting down LSU, which is not something to hang your hat on.

Or, alternatively, Arkansas fans are really stupid, don't see good football, and aren't really good judges of who is or isn't a good coach. I'm not saying that is what it is, but it is just as likely as he was good and now he isn't.

One could say the same about LSU fans or any other fanbase in the country. We prop up these guys when they're succesful and tear them down when they fail. It's not an Arkansas only attitude.

In this specific case, it is Arkansas' fans. Own it. Pointing to other people to justify it is stupid. You all deified him when he lucked into a good season, now you have to own that opinion even if other people did it for other coaches. Robb Smith now sucks, even though he was great and you were so smart to make him sign that noncompete. You were so smart to keep Kirby Smart from hiring him. Good work, guys. Now you want him fired.

You Cheshire Hog were specifically wrong about Robb Smith's coaching acumen. Just own it.

I've always thought he was a pretty good coach...but surprised he was shellacked 56-3 by Aubie. Wow...

Bert's seat isn't even warm.

You should drop by Hogville, though, and read what some of the lunatics are saying

To answer the OP's question. Arkansas is a mess in the trenches on both sides of the ball. DL has talent, but maybe our Line Coach needs to move on! Same can be said for our DC if he can't get his act together. We red shirted some talented LB'ers this year, they will need to be ready to help. Jury is still out on our OL coach who just got here this year, just not seeing improvement 7 games in.

Bret has his hands full, I don't think we win but two more games this year.

He had a pretty fortunate situation when he showed up on D with some great front 7 players and veterans in the back 5

Same reason why I'm hesitant to anoint Kevin Steele the savior of Auburn's defense. He had 8 returning starters with 2/3 new starters being top 100 players
