Just as I thought, those arse hats added in regular traffic violations in order to bulk up their numbers.

Once again, media doing whatever it takes to make 18-22 year old kids look like shite.

I give Long credit on this, he laid everything out there today.

quote:

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The following is a statement from University of Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long regarding the Sports Illustrated/CBS News report on college football and crime published on Wednesday. “The University of Arkansas has high standards and expectations for all of its students, including those who take part in intercollegiate athletics. When a student violates the law or the student conduct code, they are held accountable. Students who participate in intercollegiate athletics are also held accountable to our student-athlete conduct code. “The Sports Illustrated/CBS News article on Top 25 football programs cited 18 members of the Razorback football team who had violated the law. While I am in no way dismissing or rationalizing the infractions, I do want the public to know the nature of those infractions. Of the violations involving the 18 student-athletes:
• Seven were traffic violations that did not involve alcohol or any other illegal substances

• Three additional violations involved driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol

• Five involved illegal use or possession of alcohol

• Two involved marijuana possession

• One involved shoplifting

“It is worth noting that none of these violations involved any acts of violence. Unfortunately, the article placed our students in a misleading context, one which failed to distinguish the nature and severity of violations from those featured in the story. “To reiterate, the University of Arkansas’ athletic program works hard to educate our student athletes on matters of personal responsibility. We have high expectations of those who want to compete under the Razorback name. We will continue to stress those expectations and will continue to hold accountable those who fail to uphold our standards.”

Thug U.

One good thing about the new paid parking on Dickson is that it should encourage more walking and carpooling.

I expect the vehicle-related funtime goodparty arrest numbers to go down as a result.

Over the last month campus PD has been following the free drunk ride service and giving students PI's as they enter their dorms.

WTF? You figure they would encourage students to use that service. Some people should get a stop put to that immediately.

i will tell you i have lived in arkansas (ft.smith/little rock and nwa area) oklahoma, missouri and louisiana in my lifetime. arkansas is the only state of the 4 where just about anywhere you go, the local police will follow you around just looking for or waiting for a chance to pull you over. it's like they have nothing better to do....they'll even stop you while walking down the sidewalk on garrison ave when it's 25 outside and ask you why you have your hands in the pocket of your hoodie, what do you have in your pockets? arkansas cops are almost gastapo like....i love my home state but the cops suck arse sometimes so im not surprised arkansas athletes get caught twice as often as everybody else

That's lame and someone should put a stop to it. If you want to make being drunk on campus illegal, fine, but come on, walking to your dorm is hardly being intoxicated in public.
