Bama tied ND today at #3 alltime by being ranked #1 in 98 AP polls. Bama will pass ND next week and be only two spots behind Oklahoma for #2 at 101 weeks.

If Bama wins out, they could tie tOSU for #1 at 105 weeks.

Not a single Bi-10 homer voted PedState #1?

Let's all join together in hoping bama gets that record. If we don't we can just claim it anyway.

Because we beat Auburn when they were ranked and auburn took you to the woodshed. Pretty simple concept.

They would definitely put 11-1 ND in over a 12-1 UGA.

I don't think they would, and if they did, it would be crap.

I do think Bama would be at a huge risk if they were to lose in the SEC title game. Their schedule has completely fallen apart on them. ND would probably - and rightfully - get the nod over Bama if ND is 11 - 1 and Bama is 12 - 1.

That said, ND's schedule has to hold up. There are six teams on ND's schedule in the current top 25 and two more sniffing around, but I don't really trust any of them not to go belly up except for Georgia. I don't trust SC, Michigan State, or Miami to finish well.

ND needs to lose.

Maybe I am just jaded, but I could see a GA team that only lost one game to Alabama in SECCG being left out for a 1 loss ND team they beat this season.

It would be bullshite, but I could see it happening. IF ND is in the running, that only leaves three slots for the remaining power five conferences. I am afraid GA would get screwed in this scenario.

There is no way there will be 2 teams selected from the same conference especially with ND in the mix unless there are very unusual circumstances.

ND making the playoffs essentially eliminates two power 5 conference champions or a 12-1 Georgia. Even worse for Georgia if TCU wins out. Georgia has little room for error in those scenarios. 12-1 with a loss to Bama isn't getting them in.

I think they would, and while I wouldn't like it, it would have a lot to do with when the loss came. ND lost early and Georgia will have lost later. The argument would be that Georgia beat ND by 1 and ND improved over the course of the season. ND also has more of a history, and they love historical teams.

Whether we like it or not, Notre Dame,Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, USCw, Michigan and Oklahoma will always get the benefit of the doubt based on their past, and the viewership they would bring to television.

If everybody keeps winning it all works out, though, so to a degree I understand the concept of those teams getting the benefit of the doubt.

Notre Dame in keeps 2 SEC teams out most probably

SEC champ is in
1 loss ND is in
0 or 1 loss B1G is in
0 or 1 loss ACC is in

1 loss SEC runner up & Pac & Big 12 are odd men out

The problem in this scenario is

1 loss SEC runner up (presumably UGA) gave 1 loss ND their loss. Not in a neutral site, but on their home turf. While UGA loses to SEC champ.

understand, but it is what it is

we need Clemson & Miami to lose twice & for ND to lose a second game for 2 SEC teams

even then, it would help if TCU is not undefeated, nor one of the Florida teams

if south florida goes undefeated, beating Houston & @ UCF and eventually winning the American by beating Memphis (or SMU), do they deserve a shot at the playoff?

Just imagine what they'd do to Auburn.
We haven't lost to a non-major conference team in the last 26 years.

You lost to one in the last 26 days.
