Kentucky has won 8 National Championships with 5 different coaches in 5 different decades (6 if you consider their 1933 Helms Title as UNC does). They lead all schools in NCAA Tournament appearances, tournament wins, Sweet 16 appearances, and Elite Eight appearances. They're the top D-1 program in history in all-time winning percentage and all-time wins.

Program > Wooden's dynasty

Kansas has banners for their Helms "titles" too.

How far did this final 4 run jump USCjr up the list?

Why?

Because teams are still playing? Seems like they could wait one more week. Idk

It wouldn't jumble much around, but if you're going to put it out the week before the last 3 games, why not just wait a week?

Ahh, yeah. I Understand.

Maybe it's because attention is focused on the final four this week trying to tap into that.

For those that are too lazy to click the link:

quote:

To determine the all-time Top 100, the AP formula counted poll appearances (one point each) to mark consistency and No. 1 rankings (two points each) to acknowledge elite programs. Keep in mind that AP doesn’t release a poll after the NCAA Tournament, so eventual national champions are not factored into these rankings. Instead, this lists focuses more on those programs that consistently appear in the poll and/or at the top during the regular seasons.

Interesting that Arizona is #8 even though they've only won 1 title and been to 4 Final Fours.

It's because this only looks at AP rankings. The AP doesn't release a poll after the tournament so it doesn't factor in who won the national title, let alone other finishes in the tournament.

This is really nothing but a list of how often teams have appeared in the AP rankings. Pretty terrible formula.

You think the SEC brought in Mizzou to bring the value of 2 division titles in 5 years?

I like it. I think the tournament is a really shitty way to determine a national champion.

Interesting as frick, but shitty way to name a champion.

I didn't say anything like that at all.

Im just pointing out YOU seem to care a lot about what Mizzou athletics does or doesn't do.

this is interesting, but it is clearly about how they've been ranked in the AP poll. Hard to believe Illinois is the 11th best program. Also considering San Francisco won back to back titles and played again in the Final Four the following season its hard to believe they are as low as 48.

That may be, but it is what we have. Can't just disregard tournament results when it is a huge part of college basketball.

Ok. Good point. Mizzou value to SEC noted because of tGW's 2 posts on the SECR.

Calling the commish now.
