Paul McGuire's plan for the BCS? He kind of described it in the Capital One bowl. It seemed pretty interesting he said something along the lines of there should be 5 BCS Bowls and they are played as normal, but the next week there is a National Championship in which two deserving teams get into the game. For example this years would have gone: Florida vs. Oklahoma, Cinnci vs. VT, USC vs. Texas, PSU vs. Bama, OSU vs. Utah. The next week it would most likely be the winner of Texas USC and Florida Oklahoma. So in a sense we get what we want with the bowls all remaining in tact. Of course I could see a situation where there are 3 deserving teams, but this system just eliminates some of the contenders without there being a playoff or a huge shake up. Is that pretty much the +1?

That was Todd Blackledge's plan. Personally I do not like it b/c I think it would be too subjective and create too much controversy in picking the "two deserving teams". It would be kinda like an extra weekend in the season between certain teams before the final BCS rankings come out.

I don't like it either. Too many teams. Take the top four and go from there.

I thought that system sucks, but that's just my opinion.
How about this scenario:
Team A beats the frick out of everyone the entire year.
Team B has one loss, plays in the worst conference, and has had close games all year.
Team A squeaks by Team C in an unusual performance.
Team B lays the wood on Team D in the best game of their season.
Unless I was too sleepy to understand what was going on, then Team B would go to the BCSNC.

This is the "real" +1. I like this idea, except I'd tweak it to make the bowls just like they used to be, and are when a teams not in the NC (Big 10/Pac 10 in Rose, SEC in Sugar), then, using the reg season AND bowls, take the top two teams.

No in your scenario Team A plays Team B in the NC.

This is basically what they do now.
Every team plays at least 12 games, some 13 and the two most deserving teams play for the NC.
This just adds one more game.
Who determines which two teams are the most deserving afgter your BCS bowl games?
Sounds to me like the AP / sportswriters want to go back to a time when they had more influence and crowned the NC.

The thing is, it's not that different from our current system. This system just eliminates a few of the arguments. Sure there is still going to be controversy, but this system seems easier to grasp by the "big guys" in the NCAA who hold the BCS dear to their hearts.

The Big 10 should no longer be allowed to attend BCS bowls. I mean honestly this is ridiculous. Ohio State & Penn State. Please stay home. You just embarass yourselves. Go Gators & Hook'em horns

And the ACC and Big East should? Should there only be two BCS games or something?
