As a primary school color, shades of red and blue are pretty prominent, with yellow being a distant 3rd. But for some reason, the top basketball schools are dominated by blue, and the top (or at least most well known) football schools by red. There are exceptions of course, but it is somewhat strange.

Red:
USC
Alabama
Ohio State
Arkansas
Texas A&M
Georgia
SCAR
FSU
Oklahoma
Arizona State
Utah
Virginia Tech
Ole Miss
Miss St
Wisconsin
Nebraska

Blue:
Duke
UNC
Kansas
Kentucky
Villanova
UCLA
Florida
Memphis
Georgetown

schools with a well-rounded 'commitment to excellence' in all sports tend to wear purple or gold, if not both.

So what you're saying is we need to put the touch of Lady Vols' blue on our men's bball uniform.
