Just trying to get a feel of Mormon town. I live in Denver so the BYU/State game is an easy flight.

Never watched a game there but I've been a few times (on skiing trips). It's probably the cleanest, most beautiful city in the US (IMO). The people are ridiculously friendly as well.

Great atmosphere and fans are decent people. Beautiful location.

Fly into SLC? If so stay in SLC and just go down for the game. You will find more to do in SLC, but I was treated well in Provo. If you are only in Denver it is well worth the trip.

Awesome thanks for the feedback. Such an easy, cheap flight to SLC I couldn't pass it up. I was thinking staying in Orem just to be close and not have to drive back to SLC but I realize outside of a few chains in Orem there's not a lot to do. It is a Friday night game so a little different anyway.

Considering their stance on alcohol, it looks miserable.

The Mormons are like hardcore Baptists...... you get them away from their own and they'll drink all your beer. There won't be any shortage of booze in the SLC metro area.

Yeah when I looked at the pics it was a given. Also on alcohol there's really no bars but looks like you can get drinks at the chain places. Anyone know?

From what I see they do serve alcohol in the restaurants. Again just trying to get confirmation on that..

They only sell caffeine-free Coke in the stadium.

They do and since the game is on a Friday you shouldn't run into any "blue law" type nonsense. There are some state run package stores in the area as well.

Beautiful City/Location/Stadium (albeit a little on the small side).

As for their fans. God help you.

I mean they're friendly enough, and will invite you in to their tailgate for a sprite and some green jello. But they're obnoxious, not in a in your face hostile sort of way, but a geewillickers, Mr. Rodgers sort of way. If kindness can kill, then they should have the market cornered.

And on a campus where coffee is verboten, don't expect to tie one on in Happy Valley. And don't drink and drive in this state, they take that VERY Seriously here.

And if you do decide to drink, don't forget that you have to go to the state liquor store to purchase any alcohol greater than 3.2% beer.

Assuming you're flying in to the SLC airport and driving, your best bet of the State liquor store to hit up is the one right off the freeway in Draper (about 1/2 between the airport and provo). You're looking at just about 1 hour drive under normal conditions from the SLC airport to Provo (all easy interstate driving). Obviously game day will be more congested, Esp on a Friday afternoon.

L

and PS: Thank you for your service!

One more thing while I'm thinking about it, the weather in mid-october should be beautiful.

Appreciate all that info for sure and THANK YOU! It'll probably be 3.25 beer for a while in Orem until we decide to go down to the stadium so thanks on the the liquor store recommendation as well.

All I know is my dad goes to Salt lake for work every few weeks and there is not a coffee pot to be found in the entire 6-floor office building.
