Any chance the tournament stays put?

I really hope it does

I'm a huge LSU baseball fan who moved to Hoover specifically because the tournament has been here for the past 20 years

And now they decide to move it????!!!!

I'm OK to rotate around all of the championship sites.
Pick 4 cities in each sport and rotate.
For example, football could be Atlanta. NO, Nashville, and Houston.

Maybe a better idea would have been moving to BR. I'm sure he means he lives in that area and picked Hoover so it was a shorter drive to the tourney. Wait that still doesn't make any sense.

I used to live in BR

I moved away because I hate the K lady and that a-hole cris guillot

I can't stand going to the box so I figured Hoover would place where I could see the most games, outside the box, of course

Why would we play 2 of the places so far from the center of the conference.

I say it's better than a 50% chance it stays in Hoover with some guaranteed improvements. It fits the need better than any of the downtown/weekday games options. This is a big event for the City of Hoover and they really want it to stay and will make concessions. The cities of Memphis and Nashville would like it but it would be a blip on their overall economic impact.

Yes, most likely it will stay in Hoover.

What people don't understand, is Hoover has a GIGANTIC advantage over every other city because of its convenience for the SEC staff.

Spring meetings in Destin always begin the Monday after the SEC Baseball Tournament. All SEC staff have enormous loads of work to do to get prepared for all of their various meetings the week ahead. While they are trying to get prepared, there is a baseball tournament going on across town that must also be staffed with at least 5-6 folks from the SEC at all times. Everyone is literally driving back-and-forth from the office to Hoover as they balance preparation for Spring Meetings and working the baseball tournament.

Then when the tournament ends on Sunday, everyone has to get in their cars and drive (usually with their families) down to Destin late that night... just to be there in time for the meetings that start the very next morning.

The decision makers at the SEC know that moving the tournament to Memphis or Nashville would put them and the rest of the staff at a gigantic disadvantage... not to mention, those who work the tournament would likely have to fly to Destin, which is not typically easy by nature either. Everyone on the staff brings their families to stay at the Hilton, so they they have the complication of getting their families down to Destin as well.

It's all a logistical nightmare that quite frankly will only ever happen if Hoover stops even making any effort to host the tournament. Each time the bidding comes up, the SEC uses the process to force Hoover into making improvements (RV Park, etc. a few years ago). But the SEC is not seriously interested in moving the tournament.

There is a 99% chance it stays in Hoover.

Believe it or not, but I have met other LSU fans in town who said that coming to the tournament made them decide to move to Birmingham. The guy I know said he fell in love with the city and wanted to plant his family in Birmingham.

Only the RV crowd think Hoover is a great venue. Anyone else that is coming from out of town would prefer a downtown park with hotels and restaurants in walking distance. Hard to see Hoover hanging on much longer without a full-time baseball tenant.

Why is stadium in downtown Birmingham not in play? Isn't it called Regions Field?

That is a little different then strictly moving to Hoover because of the tournament.

I don't think it is big enough?

- NOLA should build an FQ baseball stadium
- Memphis is a legit pick.
- does Nashville have a good stadium
