Here are the top 20 major CFB programs, ranked by official winning percentage:

1 Michigan .73027
2 Notre Dame .72836
3 Ohio State .72363
4 Oklahoma .72111
5 Alabama .72075
6 Texas .70678
7 Southern Cal .70016
8 Nebraska .69869
9 Penn State .68624
10 Florida State .68159
11 Tennessee .68059
12 Louisiana State .65004
13 Georgia .64844
14 Florida .63040
15 Miami-Florida .63026
16 Auburn .62907
17 Washington .61328
18 Virginia Tech .60841
19 Arizona State .60835
20 Clemson .60664

Gus Malzahn has coached against 8 of these teams as an HC, notching wins against 4 of them (Bama, Tennessee, LSU and UGa) for an overall record of 5-12. He gets another chance against Clemson in a few weeks.

How has your school's current HC done against CFB's elite over the course of his career?

Aggy would still be in the top 20 had it not been for fricking Fran cratering the program

Saban lost to Texas in the 2003 cotton bowl while at LSU.

Laughable. He was only four wins away from equaling your all-time win percentage.

Franchione was only slightly less mediocre than aggy's history.

I now understand the hatred for Hugh Freeze. He had nine wins in five years against that group.

Hey, I know y'all don't pay any attention to NCAA-mandated punishments - it maybe part of the reason the Bama football program has as many major infractions cases since 1994 than the rest of the Big 6 schools combined.

Even so, I would have included your retroactively forfeited/vacated victories, but Stassen's site doesn't, so it is what it is. In terms of program ranking, the 30 or so wins you earned on the field but were stripped from you for cheating wouldn't have changed your position any.

Since Riley is the new coach, I'll have to include Bob Stoops:

Notre Dame (1-2)
Ohio State (0-1)
Alabama (3-0)
Texas (11-7)
USC (0-1)
Nebraska (6-2)
Florida State (3-0)
Tennessee (2-0)
Louisiana State (0-1)
Florida (0-1)
Miami (1-1)
Auburn (1-0)
Washington (2-0)
Clemson (0-2)

(30-18) overall

We're just gonna pretend that Saban only played the teams the years he beat them?

Without forfeits and win vacating Alabama is actually #2 a tiny hair below Michigan.

#1-#5 are that tightly packed.
