The fact that they're scrambling is definitely good news for Bama fans

no kidding? no one actually thought they would let him leave without at least putting a counter offer on the table.

Jokes on them, REC has a patent on that tactic.

Sounds like the potential of him taking the Alabama job is just being used as leverage for a bigger and more luxurious contract.

Either way, I think it'd be better for the state of Alabama and SEC if Alabama were able to hire the guy.

I mean...this is pretty much expected. Of course they are gonna make a move to try and keep him.

Not surprised. That is how his agent works these things.

No it doesn't

It's gonna be used as leverage, regardless

The fact that it IS used as leverage is predictable, and in no way indicates that's ALL it is

I doubt Witchita State would be willing to match the UA deal. But who knows, they'd be stupid not to try to enhance his current package.

IF WSU comes close, then the Marshall's stay put in Witchita.

I'm cool with Alabama getting a good coach, not a great coach

Is Bama prepared to get in a bidding war over a basketball coach? Will they overpay for the right guy? I haven't followed this much and I'm wondering how committed to improving the BB program y'all's AD is.

We are currently willing to pay more than Wichita can afford

Oh, we're gonna overpay even if we get the wrong guy

~3-4 million is what we're offering Marshall

It really does sound like Marshall is using bama as leverage for a bigger or better deal from WSU. Bama may be going home from this battle empty handed, and Marshall is gonna walk away with a bigger wallet

We are offering a shite ton of money. all reports are like 4.0 or 4.2 mil a year. That would make him one of the highest paid coaches in the league. I seriously doubt Wichita State could afford to pay him that much.

What is overpaying? They currently have an $8,230,000 profit. That's a lot of leeway.

Agree and Agree.

I am not so sure they would need to come close. The known is better than the unknown. I will mention it because I have not seen it mentioned in any thread yet....(I will get blasted for it)....the bama fanbase is not known for their sanity. This may be a factor for his wife.
