A pretty solid read about old school 40 times. I think we can all agree Bo Jackson was a phenominal athlete but a 40 yard time at 4.12 would put him on par with Usain Bolt.....the greatest sprinter of all time.

It was definitely 4.12. I timed it myself. I framed the stopwatch I used.

I think I will print out this thread and frame next to the stopwatch.

No, If he did, he would certainly be fast but would he be Bo Jackson fast?

The only thing worse than a Fournette vs. Chubb thread? A Bo vs. Herschal thread.

To the OP, Bolt isn't that quick out of the gate (Talking sub-4.3) so I'd wager Bo probably has a quicker time than he does. What makes him so ridiculous is his ability to stride out the last 50 meters the way he does.

I remember the good old days on the rant when linking to a bleacher report article could lead to being stoned to death.

It's not a question of whether he was timed at 4.12 it's a matter of just how accurate that time would be with todays equipment. Bo Jackson was fast but that would put him at Gold Medal olympian fast and his other track meets on record suggest he wasn't gold medal olympian fast.

Bolt runs the 100 and 200m races, completely different.

So you think Bo Jackson could have beat Bolt in the 40?

We have been trying to tell the rantards for years he is the greatest athlete to ever live. He ran a perfectly timed, exactly measured 40 yard dash at 4.12 at 238 lbs and as the article suggest once threw out a 20 year old when he was 11. Thanks for reminding us how great he was.

Bolts time measured at 40 would be around 4.1 according to the math. We are saying that a football player with no track record of world record speed ran a 4.12 40 in 1986 with hand timed 40s on old equipment.

His frame wouldn't allow him to run a sub 4.2 40. 4.4 isn't out of the question, and for a guy his size is downright incredible. Make no mistake that he was one of the baddest mofos ever though.

I think Jackson is the greatest athlete of all-time. If he had run Track and Field he would have won multiple gold medals.

Christian Okoye ran a 4.4 and he easily had 30 lbs on Bo.
