While it was no surprise to me that the SEC has two schools that lead the nation in the fewest busts, it shocked me that we also have one that leads all schools in the nation in producing the most busts.

Note this takes into account the last 15 years.

The national leader in draft busts is actually Florida which I wouldn't have guessed in a million years. Penn State and FSU are also surprises.

OTOH both UT and Bama make the list for fewest draft busts.

That said, the stat from Miami is just amazing. The other leaders, while still doing a great job, don't come close.

What is the definition of a "bust" in this sense?

Given what the article said, I'm assuming it's a first round pick that doesn't live up to expectations (1st round money/status) and/or flames out completely. I do wish the article had given more info on that aspect.

Also, 2015 data isn't included.

This thread begs the question, why does Tennessee lose to Florida so much?

While we've produced fewer busts, this will be the first time in a loooong time that we actually field a more talented team across the board. Talent typically wins out in college and having a a future first rounder doesn't make up for having less talented players across the board.

That's nice but it's not really what the thread is about. FWIW, I'd take wins over the NFL too. Don't get so rustled - not everyone is a troll.

This sounds like an excuse.

Even just going back the last 2 years where UT lost by 2 combined points, talent wasn't the issue.

Talent is key to success but you also needing the coaching to build up that talent. That's why Alabama has been at the top since Saban has been the HC. Do you think Derek Mason can do what Saban can do with the same talent? No. Sure they can go 8-4 or maybe 10-2 but will not be able to compete for championship. It could be the same said with Saban at Vanderbilt. I think it goes 50/50.
