SECCG Matchup: Auburn vs UGA
quote:
Auburn received three first place votes and three second-place finishes from the seven Western Division football information directors to top its division with 33 points, barely edging Alabama, which received three first-place votes, two second-place votes and one third-place finish for 32 points. Georgia had an easier path in the East, gathering six first-place votes for 36 points. Missouri was second with one first-place vote, four seconds and one fifth for 28 points. A school's football information director could not vote for his school in the polls.
In the overall poll, just to make things interesting, Alabama was voted No. 1. With all 14 football information directors participating, the Crimson Tide received nine first-place votes, three seconds and one third for a total of 164 points.
Auburn, with three firsts, six seconds, two thirds, one fourth and one eighth-place vote, was runner-up with 149 points. Georgia was third with 145 points with its one first-place vote, three seconds, six thirds and three fourths.

These preseason lists are shite. Don't care who is responsible for them.

Except be the first or, apparently, second best runningback in the conference.

McKenzie is the #1 return specialist in the SEC and it's not even close.

Are you sure you did not forget anyone?

What kind of All-SEC list doesn't have Hunter Henry on it?

It's preseason awards. Preseason.
As in, awards given out before the season is actually played.
Since Auburn and UGA have already been anointed, we might as well just skip the season and start at the SEC CG...

Apparently the SID's don't actually pay attention to football.

Right. So, talk about it - as intended - or don't post in the thread.

Are best punter and best place kicker really necessary, when all you're saying is, "Here's our first and second team players at these positions."

Agreed. As for LSU, Alexander and Collins are good players and will likely play in the NFL, however, neither is the best OL or best DB on the Tigers' roster. That Jamal Adams isn't listed as one of the top 8 DB's is truly laughable. Barring injury, he could land on some AA teams as a sophomore.

Hunter Henry should have been first team. Engram is just a big WR. The only difference between him and Treadwell is like 5 lbs. It's not like he blocks worth anything either.
Floyd should have been on there, and where the hell is Curt Maggit? 15.0 TFL and 11.5 sacks and not even 2nd team????? bullshite

Auburn is so overrated it's ridiculous. They are getting the USC/ND treatment. Go 8-5, while losing four of your last 5 games and you are not only preseason top 6, but you are the favorite to win the toughest division in college football next year, the favorite to win the conference, and playoff contender? Is this really because Will Muschamp and unproven Jeremy Johnson? Sure Johnson could be great, but what that's not a given. They go straight to crap if they lose Duke Williams at any point of the year. Muschamp? You mean the guy with crazy talent on defense but still gave up over 450 yards 4 times last year? Florida gave up over 200 passing yards 7 times last year. They gave up over 300 passing yards 4 times last year.
Just say Bama and call it a day. They've at least earned as much.
