All kidding aside, this was some dirty shite to do to Tunsil.

I like the way this article said it:
quote:

Keep in mind that Tunsil was the victim of a real crime last night…a crime far more serious than ripping a bong hit or getting some money under the table from an assistant athletic director. He was victimized on what should have been the happiest day of his career, and he handled the situation with about as much maturity as you could ask from a 21-year-old who is being stripped and flogged, live, on national TV. He oscillated between ducking questions and answering them with candor, but what would YOU do? At least he kept his shite together.

Let's be careful not to let a bong hit and an NCAA infraction cloud the fact that this kid was blackmailed - a much more serious issue.

If he was smart he would have released the video himself months ago.

Beat them to the punch so to speak

Boo frickin' hoo.

Don't ask for money or be filmed taking bong hits and you avoid this whole train wreck. It's his own fricking fault.

Why did you alter his statement? He didn't say Tunsil was the "real victim", he said Tunsil was the victim of a "real crime" - and that is a fact.

If we just accept the blackmail part because "he should have known better", that's a dangerous position to take and you might one day, if it ever happened to you, you might appreciate why it can't be acceptable.

I love to post a thread like this every once in a while to remind myself what an incredible pointless activity it is to try to be a voice of reason on the rant...and some of you never disappoint. But there is enough entertainment value to keep going.

Please continue explaining how "getting paid", "should have known better", or just "frick Ole Miss" justifies being the victim of blackmail. Be sure to include proof that you never in your life made a bad decision.

I don't feel bad for him. He involved himself in multiple illegal activities (and those are just the ones we know about) and he will still be paid MILLIONS to play with a ball

I mean, it might just be me, but I think that being involved in a murder investigation is a little more serious than smoking marijuana.

Ok, I guess I missed that part amidst all the schadenfreude, but what blackmail?

What was the angle? (give me X or I go public)

Was it anonymous, who blackmailed him?

Why didn't he pay/go to the authorities/come clean before the blackmailer let the cat out of the bag?

Smoking MJ is a crime, and a known black mark in the eyes of GMs.

That a different person allegedly did something even worse doesn't change Tonsil's responsibility for the action or make the consequences less just.
