Just for kicks home winning streak was 57 games between 1963 and 1982.

I'd trade it to beat the 57 game home win streak from 1963 and 1982.

Ended in Jackson, Ms. by the Nasty Bunch, 6-3. Don Jacobs fumbled away the winning score inside the State 5 yard line. Biggest win in Bulldog history to this day.

Yep, shite day. Some records are just never going to be broken. Such as Derrick Thomas sack record. It's hard to imagine getting 52 sacks in a career at Bama or 27 in a season with less games lol.

I seem to remember Gene Stallings at 28 in the 90's and I believe the streak ended with LSU, if I am not mistaken.

We had a tie with Tennessee in there. An unbeaten streak is a little less impressive than a winning streak.

Paul Bryant 28 game winning streak between '78 & '80
Gene Stallings 28 game winning streak, then a tie with Tenn and then 2 more wins for an unbeaten streak of 31. 91-93.

That one was misleading because we played our big games in Birmingham during that era.

Yeah, it's 28 and has been done twice. Current streak is 22. Need to reach 25 to be in the top 25 longest winning streaks in history. LINK

If they win out the season, it will be 27. The opener next season against Florida State would tie the longest in school history. And that game is followed by 3 surefire wins, so a move into the top 10 longest streaks all-time is looking fairly plausible.

I think they've had a 24 game winning streaks before as well if I'm not mistaken.

even more impressive than those 2 were the BDS unbeaten streaks.
We played 3 games a year at Legion but still. to go from 1963 to 1982 and NEVER see a loss in Ttown.

I think Bryant lost like 6 games or something in Tuscaloosa from 59 to 82. Staggering.

And numbers such as these are why we need to slow the roll on Saban being the greatest ever. Yes, I know the game has changed but it's relative.
The streaks of wins, 8 conference titles in a 10 year period, win streaks of 9, 11 and 11 over Aubie, UT and LSU.
Maybe the biggest of them all was winning the SEC at KENTUCKY. Friggin Kentucky.... at a time when Kentucky paid zero attention to football, I mean none. At least they acknowledge it now but back then none at all.
He also amassed 323 wins with seasons where he had only 9, 10 or 11 regular season games. He never had more than 11 and that wasn't until the early 70's when 11 became the norm.

Saban is the best of OUR TIME yes. Best ever?....mmmmmm, gonna be a long debate.

Not entirely. Back in the day, a program could sign unlimited number of players, so the major programs like Alabama, that could afford it, did, and that impacted the others that couldn't afford it. Not only did it impact their number of players, but missing on the players it might have signed had they not signed with the other team.

The 85/25 rule obviously changed the game at least to a degree.

edit: Well, it is relative, but not in the manner of competition being the same, according to the era.

Derrick Thomas getting seven sacks in one game with the Chiefs. There are pass rushers who wouldn't mind seeing that number over the course of a whole season.

Coach Bryant's record in Tuscaloosa was 72-2-0.
The 2 losses were to Florida and Mississippi Southern and I was at both games.
