This is because Alabama's spring semester starts Jan. 13 -- two days after the CFB Playoff title game on Jan. 11 (ESPN, 8:30 p.m. ET), while Clemson's spring semester begins Wednesday.

The Tigers are not restricted by the length of any practices/team meetings until Tuesday, but they are limited to a maximum of four hours a day beginning Wednesday, according to NCAA rules.

Because Alabama's spring semester doesn't start until after the title game, the Crimson Tide's countable athletic activities are not restricted by the NCAA's 20-hour weekly rule.

All within the rules.

Just good planning on UAs part knowing a year ago, when the schedule was made, we would make it to the Championship game..

Didn't that come up last year with OSU and Oregon? I can't remember who had the advantage.

Yep.

Clemson wins you're a National Championship winning coach and the #1 call when Saban retires.

Alabama wins your Alma Mater won yet another National Championship and you're still probably the first call when Saban retires.

When does AU begin their spring semester? On the 13th, too? Oh. Interesting.

From what I'm hearing from the Clemson folks, we'll need it.

So you're saying Auburn's Sociology Department is what lured you to this site and make over 3700 posts.

Must have missed that the NCAA offices were moved to Birmingham. Scary what that can mean for the future of the rest of college football.

Obviously I like this but if you're playing in the National Championship, exceptions should be made.

That was 10 years ago... now the preferred major is "Public Administration"

We really need a "General Studies" Major..
