This is a result of the pollsters keeping them in the top 10 when they actually do lose instead of dropping them outside the top 10 as it should be. The sole purpose of a preseason ranking is to allow this type of manipulation to exist. It is a combination of who big money wants to see to turn a profit and the players involved in this equation. Remember this is just entertainment.

Yeah it's a great city. Probably the most laid back city in the world. Mom was born and grew up there. I was born there and moved to the States when I was 4 . Then after LSU went there for 4 years. You gotta love summers where the temperature never gets above 80 degrees. Surprising amount of people there love American football. Typically, College games come on on Sunday mornings/early afternoon.

High ranking has nothing to do with who wins the western (or eastern) division. It's based on each teams' conference record.
