This is one of my favorite Alabama/Auburn jokes:
Back in the 1980's when Pat Dye was coaching in an Iron Bowl game…..Auburn was down by 3 points to Alabama late in the fourth quarter. Auburn was facing a 4th and 2 on Bama's 15 yard line. Pat Dye did not know what to do. So he asked God for Guidance….so Dye prayed "God, please let me know what I should do here…go for it or kick a field goal"…and to Dye's amazement God answerd.."Go for it Pat"…Pat was amazing…he gave the call and Auburn went for it….the Auburn QB handed the ball off to the RB and Bama tackled the RB for a 2 yard loss meaning that Alabama would win the game. After the game Dye was shocked. He asked God "God, I did what you told me to do, why is it that we did not win"….God replied " I don't know,………. hey Bear why did you tell me to tell Dye to run that play?"
