11.4 points better than any other SEC team

After demolishing Vanderbilt 59-0, ESPN's Football Power Index projects Alabama has a 68 percent chance to win the SEC, which is highest among Power 5 teams. FPI also projects that the Tide would be 11.4 points better than any other SEC team on a neutral field, which is the highest gap between the league's No. 1 and No. 2 teams through at least this point of the season since 2008, when Florida won its second national title with Tim Tebow.

I didn't realize that stat. The SEC had some good teams in 08 too.

Yes. Ole Miss has a recent history of getting lucky for one game a year.

Team was still a monster.

The FPI also has a two loss Stanford ranked at number 9.

Obviously Bama is great again this year, but I dont think FPI is the best metric to be boasting about.

Just thought it was interesting that it's been that long since one SEC team was double digit favorites over the rest.

When will people realize the FPI is stupid.

It had Miss State as the favorite last week against Georgia.

They only got demolished 31-3.

I think people forget about how good that Ole Miss team was. Ended up beating a very good Texas Tech team in the Cotton Bowl. I guess at the time Ole Miss beat Florida, no one realized how good they actually were

They were very good. They also unleashed a new monster at UF. Mullen completely changed the offense to utilize Rainey and Demps more.

UF then proceeded to win by the largest MOV average in SEC in fifty years. That 2008 UF team wasn't unbeaten, but I would put them vs any champion the last 20 years and they would be evenly matched or better. Including 2011 Bama, 2004 USC, and 2001 Miami. Had all but four starters drafted. Most in high rounds. Simply insane. Add in one of the best college QB's in history and one of the best coaching staffs you can find(five head coaches)
