Do you guys think the university considered or even contacted him to return to be the head coach for next season? He has done an outstanding job with the LSU pitching staff since his arrival to Baton Rouge.

Bama needs a straight up big name hire from the start if they want to go somewhere. In-hiring, taking chances and the like is suicide for programs in Alabama's shape. Tennessee is a good example.

But seriously, he's amazing and all. I just think he's SO good at making pitchers better that I'm not sure he'd be a great head coach.

Think with his history and name in the state, he could have picked up some outstanding ball players.

He said that he was contacted for advice on the selection in general & that he was glad to offer it. He is happy where he is in life & in baseball right now.

Understanding was that Byrne wanted a recruiter. I think they made a great hire and hope they make Dunn tell them no with a ridiculous offer for a pitching coach or call him assistant head coach. I'm not saying he would leave but as good as he is if he and Bohanon can work together I think Alabama contends for the west and at least makes it to the tournament next year. Bohanon may have already hired a pitching coach for all I know.

Rumors that he may be a candidate for the South Carolina job.

Tanner has been slow playing the coaching search and is looking at a coach at the CWS.
