Some buddies and I were talking about football dynasties and I said certainly think Bama has been in one for a while, even though they lost last year.

The facts speak for themselves, Saban is a great Coach who surrounds himself with good coaches and other talented staff.

Bama has invested in great facilities and promoted their school and program the right way.

The most impressive thing to me is his recruiting and the type of players that Saban recruits. He has not fallen into the trap that he must have small speedy linebackers and linemen to defend the spread offenses like others schools and what Chavis got us in to.

Player like Ragland and Beckwith can play anywhere.
This is what was lost on Chavis and his recent recruiting style.

With that said, LSU is on the right track now, not exactly following the Bama model to a "T" but building our own defensive style in recruiting and carving out our own path.

Win or lose 11/7 Bama has been a great program, but we are coming on strong !

Should be a great game like always

2009-TBD

They are still in the midst of a dynasty until they go 3 years without hardware.

Agree with the OP

But this is make-or-break if Alabama still wants to be considered the top program in the land. If Bama loses to LSU, the dynasty is over, IMO. You can't go 3 years without a national title and still be called a "dynasty"

The thing about Saban is that while he's won a lot of Titles and been amazingly successful, he's never even won consecutive SEC Championships. Since Bear Bryant, here are the coaches who have managed to win consecutive SEC Titles:

4- Spurrier
3- Dooley
3- Dye
2- Fulmer
2- Majors

Because Saban won consecutive National Titles (2011/2012), I think he gets a pass. But it is strange to award the "dynasty" label to a coach and program who can't seem to win the SEC more than just 1 time in a row.

If the dynasty is to continue, they've got to win the SEC and the National Title this year.

Nobody gives a shite what you want to "call" it. It doesn't matter if they win or lose against LSU next weekend, it doesn't "make or break" anything. As long as they are inside the top 5 year in and year out with a shot of the NC every year, who cares what it's "called". Ask any team in the nation who would they NOT want to play the most for the NC, see what they tell you.

This point is completely moot considering the level of competition and parity and the SEC compared to when the coaches you listed coached.

And arkansas don't have a problem playing LSU. your point? They would probably list about 125 other teams they had rather play than Bama.

And Bama has had issues defending more wide open teams. From Auburn/Ole Miss/Texas A&M with Johnny football.

appears to be doing fine. You don't have to win every game to be a "dynasty" if that's what you want to call it. Just made a statement that UA would be last on a list of teams anyone would want to play for the NC. You are the butthurt lsu fan screaming "look at me,look at me..."

..baw
