The current line is Alabama -9. That's a BIG line for a game of this magnitude between two blue chip teams with this much talent, tradition, and history for competing and winning BIG GAMES. Right now I'd take USC and the points without hesitation. I think there's a built in Bama bias in Sports Books when setting the lines. Alabama is a popular team with lots of bettors placing bets on the Tide regardless of the line. I think this is one of those lines that's more about Alabama fans expectations and less about the game itself. I expect a hell of a ball game and nothing would surprise me. USC is going to go ALL OUT to win this game.

With a gun to my head I'd say Alabama 28 USC 25 but USC 34 Alabama 14 could happen.

What say you?

Name the last big time opening game that Bama didn't win by double digits.. This ain't Pete Carrol's USC.

If Bama wins the SECr will be insufferable... If So. Cal wins ESPN and the rest of the CFB world will be insufferable. I'm rooting for the Tide.

Michigan was the best. Most of the rival fans on the rant were picking the Wolverines. 28-0 in the 1st quarter...

True. But it's the biggest game USC has played in a decade. It's a game that pits the Pac 12 against the SEC and two traditional powerhouses all rolled into one fantastic game. Everybody will be playing over their heads. 9 points is too much IMO. Wild swings could happen in a game like this. Conference pride, team pride, and personal pride are on the line. I think Bama wins but 9 points is too much to give up.

I wouldn't bet on that game no matter the odds. (Unless they were just ridiculously stupid odds). It could be a close game or it could be ugly for either team. If I had to go with my gut feeling, I'd take Bama to win, but it ain't a given.

Not Bama though! They'll only go halfway out! They're doomed!

I'm seeing the line at 12-14.

My early projection is 21-13 Bama. I think its an under game as much as anything.

I'm an Alabama fan and this game worries me. It's early in season and there is so much Team and Conference Pride on the line. Individual players will be torched with motivation to win this one. Obviously USC is the team with the most motivation to win. As Saban says you can't take any team for granted or lightly. Expect Saban to treat this game like a NC Game - but so will USC. Who's hungrier?

If USC can hang in or take an early lead they'll keep playing over their heads and have a real shot at the upset. If Bama jumps up a couple of scores USC is toast.
