Alabama faced three top 10 teams in the 2013 season: Texas A&M, LSU, and Auburn. Florida State faced two top 10 teams in the 2013 season: Clemson and Miami.

Each player’s per game passing stats:

AJ McCarron: 263 yards, 3.33 TDs, 0 interceptions, 10.12 yards per passing attempt, and 65.38 percent completion.

Jameis Winston: 384 yards, 2 TDs, 1.5 interceptions, 12.19 yards per passing attempt, and 68.25 percent completion.

And the most important statistic of them all:

AJ McCarron: 2-1 against top 10 teams.
Jameis Winston: 2-0 against top 10 teams.

Now, Gumps. Remind me again why AJ McCarron deserves to win the 2013 Heisman Trophy? Am I crazy or something? I just don’t understand your logic.

He doesn't, nor did he unless Jameis was charged or choked away the ACC Title, and neither happened. Plus AJ would have had to stay unbeaten and not thrown five picks.

We don't think he should win.

In all seriousness, I'll say that McCarron has a better year statistically than Jordan Lynch. But that does not mean that McCarron should share the stage with either Winston or Tre Mason for that matter.

Stopped reading here. Any analysis that uses rankings at the time instead of current rankings isn't sound.

Well, I did you a favor by including Texas A&M and excluding Duke for Florida State. If I only included end-of-year statistics, AJ's stats are much worse.

I don't think he should win, but I do think his outstanding play coupled with his leadership and attitude make him deserving of an invite.

No, he doesn't have gaudy statistics, but that's largely due to the balanced offense we run. Either way, this will keep him from winning the award. But everything else about him aligns well with the spirit of the award.

Also, his numbers you posted really aren't that far off of Winston's, so that's not really helping your case.
