I'm sure a lot of you live in big cities filled with Big XII alums (especially the Texas schools). Obviously, you used to play them all the time and Texas was your main rival that you competed with in all sports. Now that you rarely if at all play them (or Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, etc), have sports discussions about the schools drifted apart?

I'm sure you still pay attention to them and the Big XII because it is in your sphere, but you have to have less day to day knowledge about it (and obviously them about you and your conference) than you used to when you were in the league.

I'm just trying to think about what it would be like living in Atlanta with SEC alums everywhere and Alabama now being in, say, the ACC.....and never playing Tennessee or Auburn anymore. Would be incredibly strange.

Not a big deal. I have a lot of friends from hs that went to Texas. Have probably only talked about the SEC once or twice.

Also Houston and Dallas contain many Arkansas, Alabama and LSU fans

I think it is a bit skewed with how bad the Whorns are right now. A&M was certainly flavor of the moment for the past few years, but that also happened to be when Texas was lower than they have historically ever been.

Not necessarily Texas based, but with the Big 12 tournament in KC, it is still full of Big 12 folks. Nebraska people are also around and throw a few jabs around, but its kind of depressing a bit without playing each other. Used to be fun and entertaining to friendly rib co-workers and such at office and happy hours at bars...now it is kind of meh.

Texas got a nice recruiting class too. I'd think they'll be a more hostile fanbase when they start winning again.

Poster before has a solid point about Texas being terrible though. It might be different if they were decent

Yea, I thought of Missouri as kind of on the border of a lot of different conferences anyway. Then, when Nebraska left for the B1G, you guys really seem to have Kansas and then B1G schools/states around you.

A&M is in the heart of the old SWC state.

It's an SEC state now boi. And A&M has honestly always belonged in the SEC. We never fit in with the other Texas schools and hence the hatred they all have for us.

I'll agree with this, you were definitely a bunch of misfits.

Good riddance. Glad I'll never have to sit through another sporting event attended by aggies. Thankfully the aggie jokes will continue in perpetuity.

While the aggie fans on the Rant base their lives on having won their own personal Conference Realignment National Championship, in real life, most aggie fans regret the move. Of course the football most Saturdays is at a more enjoyable level (hell, I wish Texas was anywhere but the Big 12), but aggies know what this has cost them.

A&M likely would have played in the national title game JFF's freshman year had they stayed in the Big 12.

A&M would have killed Texas every year since they ejected.

These are all things that would have meant a great deal to the aggie fans. Now, they have nothing to show for this time period.
