Aggies - Texas residents: Question regarding fan bases in state

If you had to guess, how do the top 6-7 fan bases break up percentage wise in state?
I've always wondered as I've only traveled through the state going to or from CA. Never spent any real time there, unfortunately.

1a A&M
1b tu
It depends on who is playing better. 90s was A&M, 00s was tu, now its trending more towards A&M again.
After that it kind of depends on what part of the state you are in.
In Houston, obviously, UH is pretty big. LSU has some presence here, but its probably about as much as Rice. Maybe less.
Dallas is split up between TCU, TTU (their biggest alumni location I believe), OU, and to a lesser extent SMU as the minority.
If I had to throw % on it, I would say...
A&M, tu - 30% EA
TTU - 5%
OU, TCU, UH - 3-4 % EA
LSU, Rice, SMU, BU - 2-3% EA
Other: SHSU, TSU, TSU, PVA&M, UTSA, UTEP, etc <1%
I don't think I missed anyone significant.

Aggy trending up, horn trending down
Definitely more t-shirt texas fans thanks to the influx of our southern neighbors but A&M has significantly closed the gap

Most are fans of Texas A&M or University of Texas. Although everyone likes their respective college; much like people who attended University of Louisiana Lafayette would predominantly be LSU fans.

Sao is correct. If you want to add in OOS schools you probably slot OU below Tech and LSU below Baylor or OU. You could do separate lists for each major metro

Texas "fans" are really only fans when UT is winning at least 10 games a season. And 90% didn't even attend or apply to any university period.
As of right now?
A&M 33%
UT 22%
Tech 15%
TX ST 10%
LSU 5%
BU 5%
Scrubs such as TCU and UH 10%

It's different all over the state, and merchandise is a pretty good indicator.
In Houston, A&M has a marginal edge, about 25% of the fans. Then tu. Then everyone else. In Dallas I'd say A&M is number three behind OU.
In San Antonio I'd say we are a distant number 2, as tu absolutely dominates the market.
I always forget Texas Tech had has fans, but they are everywhere and outside of North Texas they fight OU pretty well.
West Texas is all Tech.
Arkansas has a very mild presence in the Metroplex probably matching OSU.
East Texas, LSU is very predominant. Shreveport is the biggest city closest to them.
Baylor, TCU, SMU, and whoever else have a very small presence. I honestly wouldn't consider them any larger than any
I'd say overall, which paints a very poor representation, as you won't find an area like this actually in the state:
45% - tu
25% - A&M
13% - Texas Tech
10% - Oklahoma
7% - LSU
Then the other 10% maybe tied with everything else.

Houston is tough also because there are a ton of UH alums in the city but most don't wear UH shite so they are hard to recognize and they root for A&M or UT along with UH.

But even then there are absolutely zero UH fans that didn't go there.

It actually works out fairly well just looking at stadium size. (excluding Rice)
A&M - 102.5 (24.1%)
tu - 100.1 (23.5%)
Tech - 60.5 (14.2%)
BU - 45.1 (10.6%)
TCU - 45 (10.6%)
UH - 40 (9.4%)
SMU 32 (7.5%)

BU - 45.1 (10.6%)

UH - 40 (9.4%)
SMU 32 (7.5%)

No. BU/TCU/SMU fans do not comprise one fourth of the fans in Texas.

Probably the closest to accurate so far.
SMU used to be big, obviously, before the death penalty. But Aggies are kidding themselves if they don't believe they are a distant 2nd to UT. UT won't be down for long, and the flavor of the month fans will swing back.
Edit: That is just for Texas teams..not oklahoma, etc.
