It's one thing to say that the scheme must be changed, but would it not take a change in his coaching staff to make this type of change practical? Too, he seemingly needs a complete defensive overhaul, as this is 3 yrs straight that his defense has ranked in the bottom part of college football. How long has his present DC been with him?

I think the Aggie DC needs to be canned. That D is a shite show. has been for two seasons.

The 2012 defense was top 25 in efficiency and in scoring

After his great 2012 year where the defense was much better than expected, we weren't firing him for one down year. After two bad years, Snyder will now be let go.

Sumlin just said that they are going to look at everything:

*Sumlin should have much more involvement in play calling on offense.

*the offensive line coach needs to be re-evaluated.

*Defense needs another year of recruiting depth, wouldn't fire Snyder unless you can get a better replacement.

There is no way that DC can be kept.

I don't know the real answer but i will tell you what I'm not liking:

1. DC needs to be let go. Whatever he's trying, it's not working. Yes, the players are young but it looked like a lack of effort on Saturday and that's inexcusable.

2. Play calling on offense is an offense.

3. We have ignored the TE as a weapon for two years now.

that's about it. I can take a loss. I won't be happy about it but it happens. The apparent lack of effort is just galling.

I thought Spavital was going to be a great OC. Right now I just want to break things watching our offensive play calling.

I doubt many on the rant realize this, but we have 3 RB's seeing most of the playing time of which two are 5* and Tra Carson was a high 4* (who played at Oregon one year and then transferred to aTm). And our running game sucks arse. We have NO deep threat because KHill has zero touch on the deep ball. And on top of that, we run an endless amount of bubble screens on first down netting 1-4 yards which constantly leave us in 2nd and long. *sigh*

That's a strange complaint.

Sumlin isn't going to change anything about the scheme (nor should he). There may be staff changes, or responsibility shifting in the short term,, but he's not going to change the offense.

That offense is detrimental to the defense. You are going to live or die with it. The question is whether or not you can live with it without elite QB play. People were way too quick to assume that A&M was going to maintain its spot in the top half of the SEC West. As a program, it isn't there yet.

BS... Tackling, getting penetration up front, and not getting caught out of position has nothing to do with what star you have.

Our problem is not getting burned with the deep ball, our problem is we don't tackle, and we get pushed off the line. That's 100% about coaching.

Assistant Coaches:

Jake Spavital (QB/OC) - Either his QB sucks and his limiting his effectiveness, or he sucks and is limiting his QB's effectiveness. I think it's the former.

Clarence McKinney (RB) - Not much you can do when they get hit as soon as they touch the ball

David Beatty (WR) - Best recruiter in the nation. Receivers aren't nearly as physical as 2012 or 2013

B.J. Anderson (OL) - Needs to go somewhere else. The offensive line has regressed significantly since he took over. There's no reason the interior of your line should be so bad when you have a Matthews at center

Mark Snyder (DC) - Should be gone. Defenses have gotten worse under his watch. 2013 couldn't stop the run or pass but could force turnovers. 2014 can't stop anything or force turnovers and, aside from Myles Garrett, can't get sacks or TFL. The #1, #2, #4, #6, and #10 leading tacklers are DEFENSIVE BACKS and the leading tackler is a CORNERBACK

Terry Price (DL) - The only good coach on the defense. I would fire Snyder and make him interim DC

Mark Hagan (LB) - Worst linebackers in the nation

Terry Joseph (DB) - Slightly worse than Yates. 2 interceptions on the season. They are tackling better though.

Jeff Banks (ST/TE) - Special Teams aren't bad this season

I know someone who is on the inside who tells me the Anderson is a terrible OL coach. He has never played the position and has no idea what he is doing. Ones always run with the ones, he never mixes it up to see what other combinations might work. I was told when all the Sherman recruits flush out we will be in even worse shape in this unit.
