Auburn never received a notice of allegations. Big difference here. The bottom line is at the time it was not illegal for a Dad to ask as long as you can't prove that Cam knew or that the Dad ever received the money. And there simply was not enough evidence.

Truth. Thanks for being the voice of reason around here.

Why, if the OP's title is accurate, would AU be in trouble for an MSU recruit asking for money from MSU?

I understand the theory but don't understand the premise. Can you explain? It is the off season after all.

Everybody knows Mississippi State is crooked as shite. Nobody with another offer to another P5 school is going to go to Starkville for free. Literally the only thing proven in the Cam case is that Mississippi State tried to give the Newton's almost $200,000 and they still couldn't land him.

Mississippi State's deflections from your crooked ads program are cute though.

Actually you don't have to prove that the player knew one way or the other- see Reggie Bush and USCw. Reggie Bush denied knowing that his parents were receiving benefits from an agent, and nothing was proven that he did know. All that they have to do is prove that the parent(s) DID receive an illegal benefit.

DJ Fluker sdmitted he took money. Nothing was done about it.

Luther Davis was acting as a middle man to a sports agent who was offering money to multiple SEC athletes for their business after college.

The NCAA didn't investigate because the university proved they knew absolutely nothing about it while it was going on.

Is that fair? It depends on your point of view.

NC, Miami, Ole Miss are all good. Power 5 conference schools will never receive significant punishment again - even the insignificant ones like OM. As part of those conferences, they are just too essential to the money-generating machine that the NCAA doesn't want to smack them too hard. It doesn't serve their primary interest, which is getting money, to make examples out of Power 5 schools. Now, if you're Wichita State or Tulsa and you step out of line, watch out. Other than that, I am reminded of the words of the late Jerry Tarkanian who said, "The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky, it's going to give Cleveland State two more years' probation."

So it was found that Cam or his Dad did not receive illegal benefits? After all, they did open all of their accounts to the NCAA.

Oh yeah, that's right, that's why Bush has fought this and kept his Heisman trophy because h... wait, didn't he send that thing back? And apologize?

Cam's dad and a MSST player were seeking money to get Cam to go play at MSST. That's probably why Auburn go off without a scratch because it was, again, a Mississippi St player and Cam's dad seeking money to go to MSST.

These Mississippi schools and cheating...

It's like people forget USC and Ohio State got bowl bans just a few years ago. UNC's ordeal has only just begun, and the NCAA screwed itself over in their investigation of Miami. I don't know how the narrative that the NCAA won't do anything to a P5 school started, but it's simply not true.
