After 17 years, is it time for OM to move on from Mike Bianco?

He practically raised the baseball program from the dead in the early 2000s. Despite scholarship limits, he built a consistent winner in Oxford. Lately his program seems to be falling by the wayside to programs in the SEC and even within his own state. Seventeen years is a long time to be in a role with only one CWS appearance to show for it.
Is it time to move on?

When your own son wont play for you and is set to enroll at LSU to play baseball .... that should tell you something

After 120 years, is it time for OM to move on from racism?

Nope. Hire a good hitting coach and we will be fine. No more unproven guys. Bjork better encourage him to go that route this offseason.

Meh, there are always stories of children wanting to step away from the shadow of the parents.

So we started being racist 49 years after the school was founded. Great math there, Aggie. Kenny Trill just threw another pick 6.

You didn't really follow the recruitment. Bianco said from day 1 when his sons started playing ball that no matter what they would never play for him on the college level. He wanted them to make their own way and not be "the coach's son".

His oldest is set to play for Louisville. #2 will play for LSU unless he changes his mind.
The Biancos made it clear to their kids they needed to go somewhere other than where Mike is coaching to have a real college experience. Looks like the first two kids have made sound choices.

Should Ole Miss move on from athletics, period?

We just won a national championship today, so probably not.

Actually, i heard an interview with Mike and he said something similar but more like he and his wife didnt want him playing for dad. So they let him choose It's not always best to coach your own kid

#2 couldn't turn down the allure of playing home games inside a stadium built of metal bleachers.

I wouldn't want to coach my kid. You have to think, Bianco has probably taught them almost everything he knows. To grow as players, they need to spend time under different coaches to develop their game further.
Bianco already has obvious ties to LSU and one of his good friends and former assistants is the head coach at Louisville. Both of those moves make sense.

I think you're right.
Bianco gets hired at Ole Miss the year after Hal Baird retires from Auburn. Ole Miss rises as Auburn falls... now Auburn is rising again with Butch Thompson and Ole Miss is declining again.
Coincidence? I think not

I doubt going to play for Mike's stiffest competition was high on the wish list.

Bianco told his son not to play for him. His son is a big Ole Miss baseball supporter, Bianco just didn't want to balance a father/son relationship with a player/coach relationship and all that goes with that.
