Some interesting numbers for 2016 pulled from one of the Tech boards as we now start getting ready for Alabama vs Clemson.

vs NON PWR 5: SEC 22-6, ACC 16-5
vs FCS: SEC 11-0, ACC 12-1
vs PWR 5 (+ND): SEC 10-12, ACC 19-11
HEAD to HEAD: SEC 4 wins, ACC 9 wins

Obviously the SEC is somewhat down this year with the exception of Alabama. Clemson has faced a tougher schedule in a stronger conference at least for this season and for the first time that I have seen this season their defense tonight completely dominated a strong opponent for 4 quarters. It was a performance on par with what we are use to seeing from Alabama on defense.

If Clemson's defense plays like that next weekend and they can generate anything close to the success they had on offense against Bama last year then they have a great chance to pull the upset. They by far have the better QB.

Outside of that the two X factors will be can Clemson win the turnover battle and can Jalen Hurts do anything on offense with his feet and particularly his arm to take pressure off the Alabama defense? Should be another great game!

no, that would be 13 total times, with only 4 wins for the SEC.

I think it is
1. LSU over Louisville
2. Kentucky over Louisville
3. UGa over UNC
4. Tennessee over Va. TEch

Losses are
1. Va Tech over Arkansas
2. NC State over Vandy
3. GA Tech over Kentucky
4. Ga TEch over UGA
5. Clemson over Auburn
6. Clemson over USCe
7. FSU over Florida
8. ?
9.?

No. You're doing math wrong. I respect the technical abilities of GT students, so please go back and correct the formula to remove this invalid integer. Thanks.

Edit: Just so we're clear, ND played 5 of its 12 games against ACC teams because of their agreements with the conference. It's practically disingenuous to claim them as a true OOC, and that should be obvious to anyone.

Great talking point for ACC homers but matchups weren't really even. Georgia Tech has the SECs number however.

Never get in the middle of a Vandy/GT grad fight. These guys can be brutal.

The B1G and the ACC had the best conferences this year.
The SEC was pretty lacking overall outside of Alabama.

LSU and Tennessee had the chance to elevate, and both fell flat for various reasons. (Injuries, coaching, both, etc.)

Alabama/Clemson should be another good game. I was very impressed with Clemson's defense yesterday. That caught me off guard. Alabama will have their hands full again this year.

This is good conversation. Coaching is better in the ACC too. Thats part of it. SEC coaching is lacking.

It's all about depth, though, not about single games. I'm not sure that the ACC could keep up with Penn State, Nebraska, etc.

And FSU/Michigan was so tight it would be hard to say one was clearly better than the other.

Tennessee whipped the shite out of both its ACC and BIG opponents despite injuries and good god did we have them. LSU went 1-1, losing a heartbreaker early on. Both teams disappointed over the course of the year for various reasons but not in the realm of OOC play.
