Absurdly high LSU expectations - Top coaches won't subject themselves to that

Established coaches at top 15 schools, or established coaches who will have several options to coach at a top 15 school, will not subject themselves to coaching for LSU. The expectations are too dam high when you're in the toughest division in the nation with the best coach of all time who has his program humming along like we haven't seen from any team in decades.

All the people who enjoyed the benefit of Miles' system and way of coaching on the way to championships, calling him one of the best in the game, touting one of his teams as one of the best of all time, bragging about how great of a recruiter he is, giving him credit for the "golden age" of LSU football, are now the ones calling for his head because his offense isn't sexy and he had the audacity to lose a road game to a top 25 team by 2 points.

In Miles' 11 seasons at LSU:

7 or less wins (0)
8 wins (2)
9 wins (2*)
10 wins (2)
11 wins (3)
12 wins (1)
13 wins (1)

Average win total: 10.18

*One game was cancelled in 2015 which would have almost assuredly been a win.

Hardware:
1 National Championship
2 Conference Championships
3 Division Championships
6 Bowl Wins

Final AP Team Rankings:

6
3
1
U/R
17
8
2
13
14
U/R
16

Average final AP ranking in the 9 seasons they finished ranked: 8.89

bullshite, people said the same thing about Alabama. A winner will accept the challenge and losers will stay away. Coaches watching the shite show on the bayou see the same thing we do they just know how to fix it.

They're on a roll right now. Let them have some space, and leave facts out of this.

How in the frick are you comparing what Les Miles has done at LSU to what Shula and co did at Bama before Saban?

Lol. You want to talk about high expectations? Bama might have the highest expectations. And we landed one of the greatest coaches in history, again. Good coaches want a passionate fan base, and aren't afraid of failure.

That is good research and a great resume.
That was my argument last year, I thought he could turn it around.

-5 top 10 finishes in his first 7 seasons
-0 top 10 finishes in his last 4 seasons, and it's not looking like this year will be one

His losses now are turning into blowouts not a couple nail biters against top teams a year.

He is recruiting top classes annually, and given a blank check for assistants. If he can't be in the thick of he playoff race this year he never will again.

With the LSU fan support, recruiting base, and coaching pay (highest paid staffs in CFB) we should IMO, but definitely can, be an elite program again.

He had a great run, but like fulmer, Mack brown, and other "Legends" sometimes the game just passes you by

Any coach that doesn't want to coach in the toughest conference in the country with some of the best players in the country isn't much of a competitor and won't last long.

One minute you trash Miles and the next you take up for him. Which is it?

There's absolutely no fricking reason LSU should lose to Wisconsin. The talent gap is huge. It all points back to coaching and it's fricking obvious.

Are expectations not suppose to be high when you constantly have a top 3/5/10 recruiting class? When you return 17/22 starters?

Come the frick on

It's not that they wouldn't want to do that, it's just they wouldn't want to do that at LSU if they have any business sense.

You are right. I was worried about that last year and always brought it up. It's happened to USC, it's happened to UF, Texas, Tenn, Miami, and so on.

At some point you just have to try and be great again rather than slowly dwindle away.
We all just feel like it's time now man. Especially if we can get the right guy

Highest paid coaching staff in the country. That's attractive to know you have support to hire whoever you want.

It's all about the context of the conversation...

There it is. Wisconsin is a respectable program capable of competing with just about any team that ventures into their state. As I talked about in another thread, Wisconsin was lucky to have hit two 45 yard+ field goals which was the difference in the game. It was a close game between two good teams and the home team got a little lucky. It's college football for christ sakes.

As we have seen time and again in college football, sometimes there isn't much that separates a 9 win team from a championship winning team. Look at 2013 AU, 2007 LSU, even 2010 AU. Not all great teams win championships and often times it takes quite a bit of luck to put great teams into championship games. Hell, look at Bama last year, they needed Arky to 4th and 25 Ole Miss just in order to get into the SECCG. You should have high expectations, but you should also maintain perspective.

Yeah multiple national recruiters of the year always on his staff, 1.5 to throw at both OC and DC, top dollar for every position coach, and an hour from New Orleans, and one of the best football venues in America to recruit with.

We are tired of paying championship money to get run off the field 3 times in November, tired of waiting half a decade between QBs that can get our passing game in the top 100. We've lost 4 of our last 6 games...
