Serious Question
You would be getting in a coaching search battle with Texas, Oregon, LSU, Baylor, and possibly Florida State
Seems like it'd be smarter to wait till next year plus let the buyout go down a bit

I don't.
I'm a big believer in Sumlin.
The tSECrers don't agree.
I'm on my usual island.

If they had the chance to secure Chad Morris, and he went to Baylor instead and they kept Sumlin, I think most of them would be disappointed

I wish LSU would have gotten rid of Miles and hired a coach last year
There really isn't a lot of great options this year.
A&M would be in LSU's position if you don't get Herman you'd be stuck with Fedora or Gundy type of coach
Sumlin is better than both of those

I think it's going to work out either way. Either we make a new hire now or we let morris or fleck get another year

Oregon and baylor are nowhere near as good a job as a&m, Florida state, and LSU. Those three I think are pretty equal. Then you have texas. It would be a lot scarier if USC was also looking for a new coach

I don't want to fire Sumlin, but I don't see any way that his ceiling goes beyond 8-win seasons, so it may be the only way to fix things.

Nope, we're going to lose tonight, and the players will carry sumlin off the field basking in sentimental glory, leading to a 5 year contract extension.

It's only fitting we pay them back.

If he loses to LSU, yes. The swamp kittens are terrible. Losing to them is inexcusable.

Serious answer: He probably isn't even on the hot seat this year.
