A&M, any concern of Kyler Murray or Kyle Allen transferring?

Just curious what the thought there is with 2 very young, elite, QBs competing for playing time.
I read that Kyle Allen is starting tomorrow. Will they redshirt Murray to create a year of separation between the two of them? I have a hard time seeing someone as talented as Murray riding the bench for the next 2 to 3 years waiting on his turn.

No troll, not scared. Just genuine football talk. Well, at least an attempt to get real football talk out of Aggies.

As of now there is no talk of transferring. Murray knew what he was getting into picking A&M.

Murray will not red shirt. He will play in certain situations. I expect him to get a few snaps vs ASU.

There is a little for me. I think that if you have that talent level though what is there to really complain about? Then with Martell coming in a couple of years we should be just fine. The hope is that we are playing Kyler enough that he stays around. We will see.

Murray will play tomorrow. If Murray takes the job from Allen this year I'm sure he will transfer, but I don't see that happening.

I think Murray understood the possibility he could sit for two years when he signed here. He's a smart kid. You can't predict the future though and it's a good problem to have.

Murray also has baseball and the fact he will be contributing right away in that might make him less restless on the football field, at least that's what I hope

No. Why would Kyler transfer?

Kyle Allen declaring for NFL after next season.

The hope is that we are paying Kyler enough that he stays around.

Money is the main concern for him. That's why he passed up being drafted in the first 3-4 rounds of the MLB draft

Kyler's not a player we have to pay. His dad played QB for us and he's upper middle class. We're not talking about some hoodrat whose mom needs cash from a booster to get her nails did.

I expect Allen to hold the starting job, so that might make a kid in Murray's shoes restless. However, I think playing baseball will keep him grounded. Once he gets settled in on the diamond, I think he'll be willing to show some patience in football.

To address the OP - if Allen is not up to par and gets wholly replaced by Murray, as in at some point Murray passes him and is the clear QB #1, I could see Allen transferring for sure. But Murray knew he'd be coming in behind another #1 rated QB (Allen) when he signed, so none of this is a surprise or source of disappointment for him. He's going to get playing time right way and when Allen leaves after his Jr year, Murray will have 2 years as the starter.

If Murray takes Allen's job. Allen will transfer. I expect Murray to wait behind him for two years though if Allen keeps the job.

Nah.
On the contrary, if everyone stays healthy, Sumlin will look like a QB recruiting savant.
Allen likely gone after next season.
Then Murray will be the guy.
Martell's arrival (two classes behind Murray) is designed for him to step in at the exact right time.
A well-oiled QB machine.

When you have highly recruited QB's that can start in most college programs around the country, transfers are part of the cycle.

As cool as it would be to hold on to everyone until they graduate, bottom line is only one QB can play at a time (in our system anyways). I guess the important point is to make sure the best QB is the one on the field.

In our current situation, I believe IF Kyle Allen is able to keep Kyler off the field with his success.. then Allen will be leaving for the draft after next year. If Kyler does take the starting spot and run away with it, look for Allen to peace out.. and no one can really blame him if he did.

I'd really prefer he redshirt, as Hubanak is a plenty capable JuCo backup. It won't happen, for the reasons everyone else said, but in an ideal world...

It's a great problem to have. We might lose one of them. Then again, we might not. If Allen win the job but performs at a level that it makes sense to think he'll leave after next year, I think Murray would hang around.

If Murray ends up winning the job, Allen might well transfer. I wouldn't blame him in that scenario.
