Jalen Hurts, 197 rushing yards through three games.

Blake Sims, 350 rushing yards for all 14 games.

Be afraid SEC...be very, very afraid.

I feel like 300 of Simms' rushing yards came against us that year.

eta: on 3rd down.

13 plays over 10+ yards and averaging less than 5 YPC? Dude must get TFL most than the Tennessee backs.

I'd prefer he not run as much as he did against Ole Miss. One of the best things about the Saban offense is the lack of injuries to quarterbacks. I actually can't remember a time where a starter has missed significant time due to injury since he's been at UA.

However, I was a little surprised that Blake had that few yards rushing.

Chad Kelly with 6 runs for 10+ yards, and not a single one went for 20+ (which would be more likely for a QB because if a QB is running for 10 yards, he's in the open field).

Blake usually didn't run unless he had to. Saban also kept a little tighter rein on Kiffin in 2014 as well.

AU has the only QB that runs out of bounds 5 yards short of the first down on purpose on 4th down.

...which not only reduced his rushing yards, it also meant he held the ball longer looking for a receiver, resulting in more sacks - which count against the rushing yards.

Two QB's could have very similar running talent but vastly different rushing yards based on how much they commit to finding a receiver before taking off downfield.

From what I recall, Blake's elusiveness helped us avoid very many sacks at all that year. I'm thinking he was sacked much less than a typical season.
